Having some Escudo and a Sam Adams this am. I used to work nights, I would get off at 8 or 9 AM and still be in a work uniform to stop off and buy beer for my “evening”. I always got weird looks from this purple haired guy that clerked the convenience store. Finally one day he said something about me being at work drinking. “ I drive a propane tanker, it calms my nerves” I told him. Kinda related… Relayed it at work and my supervisor that was a dingleberry overheard it and said, “you cannot wear your uniform off work.” I asked him “When do we break ground on the new locker room with showers? I am not changing from a sweaty uniform into street clothes.” He told me I should change in a toilet stall… I dared him to make me.

October 2nd. Events have slowed to a dull roar allowing more time for bowls. At the time of this writing I have a well prepared bowl of GLP Sparkplug that is doing fantastically in the Vauen Enzian. I just opened a tin of GLP Navigator and instantly ordered an 8oz can for the vault. It is a well refined C&D Blockade runner which I enjoy so it was a sure fit. On the last bit of C&D Mississippi mud which has been delightful, the perique keeps the burley in line for a flavorful rich and hearty bowl. So laid in an 8oz can of that as well. the cobblestone "bishop" blend has been very nice. a mid-mild english with some care given to aging. I expect more of the same quality for the three other tins I have in the collection. The "rook" is all virginia and I have high hopes for that one. Super Balkan is another I been getting through. frankly, engine 99 is a better version of that blend. the burley just gets too forward in the flavor. All of the work pipes along with the petersons "hudson" bulldog(its actually a kinsale which is a later version of the hudson with a p-lip stem.) and even a couple of bowls of orcilla in the charatans make freehand. Been busy trying to work past all the burley blends I somehow have open. need to get back to Va/pers and all orientals for a bit before it gets cold and the burley become the goto. (mainly as they are very heady so half a small bowl does the trick and who cares about flavor when the cold saps it out of a bowl. so burleys are great winter bowls just a bit too heavy for warmer times when other blends shine) anyhoo, hope all are well and having a favorite bowl at the time of reading this!

Stuffed this Willmer pot with Fribourg & Treyer Cut Blended Plug. It should see me through several short smoking sessions during the day during halftimes and other game pauses.

Just finished some Carter Hall. Nearly broken in now after about 25 bowls. Will hit that sweet spot in 10-15 more bowls.
