Smoked some GH & Co. Best Brown Flake #2 earlier this morning in a 1970 Dr Grabow Grand Duke lovat, but taste is a little bit off. Daughter out sick from school already about the 4th time this year. Negative covid test, again. Next will be some 2016 Haunted Bookshop in an MM Let Freedom Ring 5th Ave and hopefully will taste a bit clearer. Food and drinks taste just fine but the smoke was getting that "only warm flavorless smoke" profile to it.

Pushed the lawnmower with a mulching blade over a ton of leaves this morning until I ran out of gas (not the kind you store in a can). Smoking Presbyterian in a Willmer AAA straight grain. Thinking about a shower, lunch, and a nap (in that order).

Grass is cut. Up next, empty some flower pots and store them in shed. But first, it's time for Oak Alley in the Tuesday cob and a mug of cold water, while sitting on the sunny back porch. The dogs are sunning themselves too.

Having Some GH&Co's Bob's Square Cut in a sandblasted basket Dublin/Yacht. Picking up a little Lakeland, but not too bad.

Octoner 19th. Temperatures are in the 70s here and quite dry so perfect weather for a delightful bowl of glp sparkplug in the vauen Enzian. The blend has been decanted for a month and is still very dense and tarry but what ambrosia omce lit. The cold draw had me pulling draws for a while but I finally laid a match to it.
I know there was some batch with "mold" and I think I actually had one tin with the very bottom leaf layer with a white "water spot". that or it was 'bloom" which is nicotine coming out of the leaf after long term storage.. nonetheless, that tin was awesone. the current opened tin is clear of issues and is a bit on the pepper side rather than nutty as the prior tin was. I suppose I shoud decant the rest of my tins to be sure of no "clunkers" but so far I really enjoy this blend in most of my pipes

October 19th. Well I was mistaken... you can tell the bad batch of sparkplug by how loose the plug is. I have two examples. one dense and two loose. the dense one is free of white spots and the other two have spots and small areas of white dust. the luck is over 3.5 oz are clear and proper and safely tucked in the vault. I just loaded a work bowl with the "imposter" sparkplug blend.seems fine. I got paranoid after touting the clean tin of sparkplug in my post so decided to do a long term decant into jars and opened my remaining three tins of the blend. one was a perfectly colored dense cube of dark tobacco interlaced with light with a nice sheen on the surface. the other two were duds. loose brick, odd color with far more light tobaccos on top and of course white areas on the brick. One brick seemed to have both a dense side and a loose side with the last brick very loose entirely throught. I know the problem relates to the lack of preservatives c&d were attempting to achieve in production. the experiment seemed to give some bad batches.. I think the "bad" batches are fine to load in a bowl but I can see how long term the tobacco would be ruined. Again, thankfully I got quite a bit that is clean so that can sit for some time. I think as long as one orders from today's stocks there is no risk of a bad tin. Knowing where my tins came from instructs me in that conclusion. two different places. anyhoo, finally got a good light on the bowl and its fine, a bit more nut undertone than the other which has more spice. So after washing my hands between tins, I think I have segregated the two products I did pack a regular tin with the off batch, figure use it up. the other known good is going to sit for a few years while I try to find more. amazing blend when done right and hopefully the worst is behind us..

A bit of Wilke High Hat in the Nording Nosewarmer earlier. Some haunted bookshop in my Savinelli series III 644KS while working on wife's Jeep Cherokee XJ. Ending the cool 46 degree evening on the porch with some G&H Dark Birds Eye in the bent billiard meer.
