Greetings all,
My Name is Mitch and I’m 59 (sounds strange saying that, I used to be 23).
In the 1980’s I had a melodic punk band called Resistance, who’s only claim to fame is the world famous skateboarder Mike Vallely was singing for our band for a while. I’ve probably seen more concerts than most people can ever think to imagine, and have met many interesting people along the way. (NHL players, Rock Stars, Movie Stars etc.) I used to joke that the road to being famous is knowing me first.
Although I had some very early success playing guitar on commercials in the late 70’s (while still in High School) but it didnt translate into a full time gig. My career was in the printing business, I was a computer hobbyist in the early 80’s and through my computer skills I ended up owning a successful (partnership) business and have been in management (Prepress) for most of my adult life. Recently I’ve been working as an ambassador for a comic book company and having a lot of fun.
I play guitar, shoot photography for concerts and competitive gun matches as well as hockey and whatever else stands still long enough to capture. Recently I’ve been shooting rock videos for bands that I have known for a long time. I roast coffee at home, I collect Single Malt Scotch, I like Bollywood and Asian movies, as well as Science fiction etc. If I had my choice, I’d probably eat Japanese food every day and not miss much else. I’m a tattoo aficionado and have work by some very famous tattoo artists from Japan and the USA. I appreciate cats (I grew up a dog person, but later found cats to be more fun to be around). I was doing competitive shooting and was pretty decent at one point. (My firearms are only for shooting sports, I’ve never pointed on at something that wasn’t paper, steel or cardboard).
As far as tobacco goes, I only smoked cigarettes from 17-23 but even then I enjoyed foreign cigarettes like Dunhill, Players etc. When I met my (now) wife, I dropped them and never looked back. At my bachelor party I was enjoying cigars, but never pursued the interest until 30 years later when one of my rock star friends gave me a Habano and I took up smoking Padron, Viaje, Tatuaje, and recently Dunbarton and Foundation cigars. For a while 8 or so years ago, I started taking an interest in pipe smoking, but never mastered the hobby well enough to fully enjoy it, but I did buy a birth year Dunhill before giving it a rest. (Mostly due to job changes and less funds to blow on silly hobbies).
This past summer I got back into cigars and was watching interviews with the owners of cigar companies, who surprisingly both started speaking of their love of pipe smoking, I thought that was something I found fun and never mastered packing, tamping and keep the bloody thing lit. So I invested some time and funds and now I’m here, boring you senseless.
Needless to say, I still have tons of noob questions and I was hoping you gents (and ladies?) may be interested in sharing some of that knowledge that you have acquired over the years.
Cheers!
Mitch
