It was 20 years ago today that we buried my father.I still miss him.No one can replace him.If you still have your parents give them a big hug and tell them you love them.

I hear you...lost my mom right after HS graduation in 1978...39 years ago.
Lost my dad in 89...that was 28 years ago.... and I am 57.
When I see someone fighting with their parents, or they are estranged over stupid issues, I have to shake my head.

...my Mother passed in '96...my Father in '05...as stated, if you have a parent(s) tell them you love them!

The hurt never goes away, it justs gets milder, then is awakened by a song, a smell, or a scene you see that brings back memories, you know that's a good thing, that way they stay with us. Larry it never goes away.

indeed. i lost my father in June 1991. I was 19 and had just completed my freshman year of college. he's now been gone longer than i had him in my life, something that is hard to wrap one's head around.

I once dated a gal wearing Tabu perfume...the same thing that was my mom's go-to perfume...felt like i was on a date with my mom...that was weird.  |

I once dated a gal wearing Tabu perfume...the same thing that was my mom's go-to perfume...felt like i was on a date with my mom...that was weird. No Words..NONE!!! @ Sparks: Enjoy every moment with them!! My dad Died in '99 just two days after I started a new job and I was out on the road picking up a load of AB Beer and I didn't know until I came back home that he died.I was able to take time off after I came back for the funeral. I miss him everyday,I miss his wisdom,I miss his funny stories and I miss having him over for breakfast. I know that all of our dogs that crossed the rainbow are with him and together they watch over me and I hope that I am making them proud. Today I am meeting my cousin that I have not seen in 45 years, the last time we saw each other we were both five years old and she is the only living member of my dad's family that is not a jerk. She will be bringing many family pictures and and giving me a family history that I know nothing about due to my father's family disowning him after her married my mom,but that's a whole other story. |

I know what you mean, Mike! Hubby's family has experience a huge rift when he was very young so he knows basically nothing about his father's side, and we had a rift in my family too. Nothing like family! Hope you have a really good day catching up with your cousin.

We have been connected on Facebook for about 7 years but never managed to get together, since my back problems keep me home and now that she decided to be a stay at home mom we have the opportunity to finally get together! |

We have been connected on Facebook for about 7 years but never managed to get together, since my back problems keep me home and now that she decided to be a stay at home mom we have the opportunity to finally get together!

Well my cousin could only stay for about 2 hours because she had to early dismiss her kids from school but we talked the whole time..it was kind of strange because we are so much alike and it was like talking to myself in a mirror! We are making plans for a family get together now that the weather is getting nice! |
