Was just advised by our Brother Scrooge that David AKA Colonel Busch passed on July 7th this year. While I don't personally know him I'll pass this along to those who do.

Thanks, I knew him, but I have been too busy to check his site for months. Great guy. I knew he was very ill and he was taking care of his sick wife too.

I checked out the site. It's still up, but there is no mention of what happened. There never was much activity. He set up a private site, invitation only, to get away from the troubles that some forums had a few years ago. He was mostly bedridden years ago, until his wife got sick and he had to take care of her. May he be in a better world.

Oh my goodness. This is extremely upsetting to me. I absolutely loved David. I’d been meaning to email him for months, since he pretty much disappeared from his site. Crap. He always wrote these creative stories, had a very similar sensibility to my own, very intelligent, and was a good and gentle human being. He was the one who started The Daily Chronicle of the happenings in his own life, which turned into what it is now. I was able to make him several pipes, which I know he enjoyed. RIP, buddy. You will be very sorely missed. You were one of the good ones.

And Xuan wasn't well herself - I wonder how she is or if she is even still alive. And you're right, Jason - he started the Daily Chronicle all those years ago. WOW...brother David, you've had quite a life. +1 I had something in common with David, I met John Ashcroft, but David knew him and Ashcroft knew him. Ashcroft was one of a few of the good guys in the Bush administration. I would have liked to talk to David about the meat industry where I worked also. It sounds like he had a good life, but had a rough stretch of road at the end.🥲 |
