I have a journaling app on my computer and this morning it asked the question - What is your favorite season? So I enter . . . I love autumn and spring. The turnings are my favorite. Summer is nice but sometimes the heat is not enjoyable. Green lawns in late summer get thirsty and many are under-hydrated and turn pale or brown and almost dead. Except for the occasional dandelion that seems to live forever. The exception for summer is on those rare occasions when you get to chill on a warm white sandy beach somewhere. Winters are dark, particularly in the northwest when you can go weeks without sighting blue skies. And I love blue skies. During winters the dreary days of rain seem endless and cold winds blow. On the occasion when the snows blanket the ground, it turns beautiful and and so peaceful and quiet. You snap a picture or two. But not long after one wants it to all just go away so life can go back to normal. Spring, on the other hand, is the best ever. Those crisp clean sunny mornings are my favorite. As a high schooler in California I fell in love with the deep blue spring skies and that would become my favorite of all the colors. On those spring mornings, the air in the nostrils seems strikingly oxygenated. The glorious flowers pop up everywhere with those intensely saturated colors. You can visually reflect again how much God must love colors, rich colors, and breathtaking panoramas. The other turning season is known by the terms fall or autumn. I much prefer the term autumn. Maybe because the word fall is associated with a curse. Falling is generally never good. Unless it is out of an airplane. With a parachute. The term autumn seems to associate in my mind with beauty, with a wide array of color. And that it is. I love the turning colors of God’s canvas. What is more spectacular than looking at a valley splattered with oranges and yellows and reds and every variation in between as the leaves stop processing chlorophyll and prepare for winter. It’s surreal. Yes, God indeed loves colors. So many of them. And they are all gifts for His creatures to savor. I pity those who live in less colorful regions of the world. The delight of the seasons instill worship and wonder. Maybe that’s why I most favor the turnings.
What is your favorite season. Why?

Fall and winter for me. I live where it get's very cold and alot of snow...perfect. Our summers can get to 80 degrees and that's awful. Right now it's about 26 and spitting snow. Good day for a drive in the woods.

Spring, fall and winter. Today it's going to be 75 and sunny. Beats 112, 90% humidity and sunny.

Lived in Michigan my whole life. I appreciate all four seasons. Winter could be a little shorter, or at least transition to Spring a little quicker.

I think spring would be my favourite. That's when the weather is normally nicest, sunniest and the days are longest.

As a certified desert rat, you should consider my opinion as a factor.
Up to 100°, I am a happy camper.
But spring and fall are probably my favorite times. Even in winter though, when I watch the perennial freaking out of the New York news media collectively wetting their pants about an impending snow storm, it gives me pleasure.
Part of me wants to go all Gallagher (comedian) and say “Well maybe you should move”, but we really don’t need people like that here.

Amen on that Brother, where I live you can mow the yard in late January, and have a major ice storm the next day, and be in a drought all at the same time, I'm effing confused.

Of course I was cross-country skiing, not driving a truck.

Fall or Autumn is my favorite, grass slows growing, a smell in the air I can’t describe, geese honking in the sky, college football games, close to cane harvesting, check in the mail, HaHa, porch sits are more pleasant, can hear the high school cheers of football games even though school is miles away. Red fish and trout are hitting, Damn everything is better in the fall!

Autumn by far. I've been lucky enough to always have lived places where there is a change of seasons, more or less. Clear, dry air, sun, not too hot, no bugs, leaf color in some places, my birthday--which used to coincide with stops on the Grateful Dead tour, and no snow shoveling or grass cutting. Perfect.
Spring is second best, but hectic for garden stuff.

I dunno about your area of LA, but where I grew up in AR, the fall smells were cotton defoliant (metallic, not entirely unpleasant) and damp soil and forest smells. It was also when you saw cotton lint floating around while the gins were running.
