"El Rey" has passed.
The King of Corridoes, the Megalodon of Mariachis, the operatic Rex of Ranchero Music has passed. Yes, the very great Vicente Fernandez has died at age 81.
To hear him was to love him. The greatest Balladeer of the ages.
Although I never saw him in a live performance, his appearances on YouTube videos are memorable. He will live on forever wherever people love the voice of Mexico. BTW, he was never without his nickel plated Colt revolver.

Very sad. An era passes with him.

I had no knowledge of Vicente, but really enjoy the music. Thank you John and Zambini! He is the best! Much loved throughout Old Mexico and the southwest USA or wherever Ranchero music is enjoyed.

I hate, hate, HATE that I can't take my wife to hear the mariachis in Monteray or show her Mexico City at night. I really love this music in it's natural setting.
