Merry Pre-Christmas. Once my morning coffee and pipe are finished, I'll be adding a thin layer of sea-salt to a twenty pound rib roast, the back in the fridge it goes, till tomorrow when it'll become our yearly " prime rib for eight"...the tree is done, gifts are wrapped, all I have left to do is vacuum, and help the wife make cookies... THEN MORE TOBACCO AND COFFEE!

Merry Christmas everybody!
It is raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock today here in Arizona! Glad it held off for 24 hours as I rolled home yesterday.
Doing the Jimmy Dean casserole for tomorrow morning's breakfast, and doing Chile Colorado with Borracho beans and homemade tortillas tomorrow. We Usually do a Prime Rib, but we encouraged all the kids to spend Christmas with the other folks...it will be nice for a change!
Went shopping for groceries....wow, the inflation is real, it was pretty easy to spend $160.00! Basic stuff like garlic, Jimmy Dean Sausage, and whole shelves of particular items are gone. I had both on hand, but was going to rotate stock....if you never prepared before it might be a good practice going forward, if for no other reason, a hedge against inflation. No kidding!

Lots of empty shelves at Smith's Supermarket (Kroeger unit). My friend Jerome who works at the store, a native Taoseño (Tiwa Pueblo), told me "White People in Town taking everything they can get like hungry rabbits" LOL!.

34 degrees is the day high. Drizzling with snow flurries now and again. Wish it were real snow like we used to have but it is too warm now.

72 right now. Had to run to the store for eggs and the store, (well stocked), was full of people all wishing each other Merry Christmas. Took a while to free myself. God, I love this town.

I was glad to see it raining in Cortez today, I will be headed that way Tuesday, I hope it stays that way....not a big fan of icy roads. But...we definitely need several years of good snow pack.

I just learned the Post Office in Questa, NM, the village 20 miles south of us, was broken into earlier this week and many packages stolen. So, some kids and others will not be seeing their Christmas presents this year. Sad.
Questa lost their entire police department a year or two ago and the the Town Council never replaced them. So, there is no law enforcement unless a court in Taos issues a warrant and is served by the Sheriff's Office. Naturally, there are no police patrols. So, it is open season for crooks to do what they want. Double sad!

It is all the rage nowadays… The Bay Area has seen an escalation in mob- robberies, and Ivsaw a story on how it is spreading, Chicago is seeing an uptick. When political leaders side with criminals and rip on law enforcement, if I was law enforcement, I would say let it rip! If no one has my back, I am not risking my skin. Unintended consequences.
