i have seen the face book icon on every thread and I clicked on it and it seemed like the same as here but less features. So after all that inane drivel my question is should I use the link so my posts get looked at on face book and if I do use the link, what do I win? Do I get a hooker and a bag of blow?

Or even better, a pound of good pipe tobacco! But as to the link, I'm afraid I know nothing of these things.

I've never clicked on a Facebook icon until you mentioned it and it seems to be a broken link. But I wouldn't want to link anything to Facebook.

I'm in the same boat as Ron. I quit using FB quite some time ago, so I've never tried the button.

Seems like you're SOL, cigrmaster. We're all too crotchety for FB, apparently. Buncha mother heckin' codgers.

I enjoy FB and have friends around the world.
I have been punished for opinions contrary to the good order of the FB Universe. So, I have learned to rephrase some of my opinions. A little kindness helps in responding to comments made by some of the halfwits, trolls, cretins, numbnuts, and assorted goobers who sometimes appear.

I never used Facebook until the pandemic began, after which I signed up to get church info out for online services etc.
I mostly use it for photography groups.

I think that will happen if you are not signed up with facebook...that means, you are a loser, Ron. Just kidding. I hate Facebook and Mark Suckaturd is pretty much toilet scum. It helps with the pipe club...we had 4 members for years, once I went on social media, we really expanded and it has led to a healthier pipe club. The minute they ban tobacco and pipes, I will shut down and depend on the wife to let me know of family happenings. I have to have a personal page in order to operate the pipe club side...I do not intermingle with on my personal side, because I do not want to show that I use tobacco on my personal page...no ones business.

Never did facebook and never will. Don't worry. They know everything about you, anyway! The last time someone tried to do an online background check on me it came back that I worked for INA in Croatia. I've never used my home address for orders nor real IDs online or elsewhere. I've only ever worked for companies that pay cash and do neither loans nor credit cards. I scramble my IP address with software a friend showed me a few years ago. The closest an online friend got when trying to track my location was 400 miles off.

I just opened my first Face Book account with an anonymous name. It does have a ton of pipe sites. I think they are all the same. People showing themselves smoking a pipe. There is very little real content, I don't think most of the people on there have much pipe knowledge. You would think with that many people you could get some good discussions going.

I’ve never successfully created a Facebook profile, even using a VPN that didn’t eventually link up with my personal profile. I’d strongly disagree with you on the quality of the content. I see more great pipes that I’m interested in a week on Facebook and Instagram than I will in a year on all the pipe boards I read combined in a year. The private specialized groups are much better than the huge public “what are you smoking” pipe groups.

Zuckerberg makes money on ads and selling member data. His rates are based on membership numbers so every member contributes to his fortune. I would say that he is dog excrement on the bottom of a boot but I think too much of dogs.

That Facebook link takes you to a Facebook community called The Briar Patch Forum which is something that sparks created a long time ago to help promote the forum. However, that Facebook group is essentially dead as it hasn’t had a new post since 2017.

Are any of you using windows 10? If so, everything you've done has already been recorded and sent to microsoft.
Even with strict privacy settings, all your data is being collected. For example,
ALL TEXT you type is stored in temporary files and sent every 30 minutes to three different servers. All accounts made, all passwords typed, all your encrypted chats, ALL TEXT. There is no way to authenticate to any website without microsoft also getting your password.
Telemetry is sent once per five minutes, to eight different servers. This is not telemetry about your computer, but telemetry about YOU. For example, typing a phone number anywhere into the Edge browser transmits it to those eight servers. If you search the name of a movie, this starts a telemetry process that indexes all media files on your computer and transmits them to five different servers.
Everything you say into a microphone is immediately transmitted to nine different servers. This still occurs after Cortana is fully disabled or even uninstalled. This creates a massive voice database, allowing microsoft to tie those voices to identities, and eventually be able to identify anyone simply by picking up their voice, whether it be a microphone in a public place, or a call on a cellphone, or something you said to your car’s infotainment system.
When a webcam is first enabled, about 35mb of data gets immediately transmitted to five different servers, so they have your face too.
If Windows is left unattended for about 15 minutes, a large volume of traffic starts being transmitted to various servers. I don't know what this data contains.
That's just windows 10. If you use a smartphone though, don't worry, nothing's being recorded off those at all.

At least you know who and what your dealing with at Facebook but what about here? Who knows who is monetizing the content here. I see guys spill their guts with personal and private information here on a public forum everyday, do they think that it's private? It's not, every keystroke is linked to back to you and is monetized. You signed away your privacy here when you joined.
