RIP John Madden. just read that John Madden has died at age 85. It is hard to overstate what he did for the game of professional football. I loved watching and listening to him.

I once had a 15 minute talk with him… he is the same guy in person that you would think.
Christmas Day they had a special on him, and I don’t know how I forgot about watching it. When I get home I will have to try and stream it.

I liked him and learned from his broadcasts. Not just a rattle brain announcer.
I admired him for refusing to fly. He took Amtrak to most of the games he covered. Or was driven.

Years ago, he had a Greyhound trailways bus and driver assigned to him, instead of the “Americruiser” logo with the American flag, the front entrance it was the “Maddencruiser” with the flag.

He promoted Turducken, ate it in New Orleans and he was hooked, big eater, big heart, big guy.
