I have come in to possession of some cigars that are wrapped in cedar. I've smoked a few, and they all have a very tight draw. Is this normal for this type of cigar, and what can I do about it? I've thought about running an ice pick down the length of the cigar, but I'm afraid that would make it burn funny. i suppose I could try it... ice picks are cheap.

That’s about “awl” you can do with a plugged cigar. I keep long shank precision screwdrivers at hand just for when it happens.

Go to your local grocers and look for a turkey lacing kit. It'll be some twine and several thin metal picks that will do double duty as martini picks. You can carefully run it through the cap of your cigar in several places. The key is to get a firm grip on the cigar in one hand and *carefully* push the pick through. Take your time. If you pierce the wrapper, the cigar is all but ruined. If you do it carefully, you can salvage even the tightest wrapped cigar. Good luck!

I hear the groans already. But if it’s nothing rare or special. And under 5 inches. Slow and steady hand. Poker on the Czech tool works just fine!
