Toque pkg hasn't started movement in US. Still curious about clearing Customs. It was Toque USA W&H to get me good and jangled to start the day. Mine must have hit the states the day before yesterday, or yesterday. Last night it shows received at whappinger falls, on to Albany… suppose to get here by Tuesday.

Mine must have hit the states the day before yesterday, or yesterday. Last night it shows received at whappinger falls, on to Albany… suppose to get here by Tuesday. My order from MrSnuff made it in about six days to the Midwest. Not bad! I hope it's similar for Toque. There's a lot of interconnectedness with the UK manufacturers and sellers, rebranding and such. And I think Snuv is made by one of the Indian Photos and packaged by Toque under the Snuv marque. Confusing! Now if only I knew if Sam Gawith Top Mill #1 is being produced as a Viking or Snuffstore brand, I'd be content. . That fluffy goodness was just right. I heard it was Viking Blonde, but it isn't. I'm just pondering and rambling because I'm having SG Silky Dark, which used to be something else? It was bad enough when they took the flavor names off a few years ago. No complaints, just a wandering, wondering mind. It keeps my brain from ruminating over bills, anyway.

Still making my way through the first few sample tins that I purchased. I've really been enjoying the two schmalzers I picked up; Bernard Jubilaums and Klostermischung.
This evening, I decided to crack open some Celtic Talisman. All I can say is WOW! this stuff is good.

Dragon Madras all day long.
I got the steam cleaner out to get a stain off of a car seat... well, you can't just do a stain and have a clean spot. So then it turned into the whole seat, then both front seats...then the arm rests... then the back... then the carpet.... then the floor mats...
That was 8 hours I'll never get back. I should have left the stain. Damn you OCD!!!

Back to Santo Domingo and 20 minute mud. My schedule for today read "patch, mud, and tape drywall through whole house." I figured a few patches here and there, no big deal. DEAD WRONG! I'm on my 2nd bag of mud and I'm not even finished with the kitchen yet. They would have been better off demoing all of it and going back with new. The home owner did the ceiling himself... there are spots I can push up 3 inches (last pic). Notice the lack of screws? Yeh.... no framing up there.... homeowner special! Dang! What do they call a man these days. I can put up the rock just fine with plenty of screws, but it takes a while to get it floated right. Nothing that I would make a living at. Well, maybe these days. Did someone quote this job and are they paying the difference?

There are no studs to screw it to. I can push the whole end of that one up. Tomorrow I have to take it out and reframe the ceiling, then reinstall it. Hanging drywall is the easy part. Mudding joints, especially ones that look like a dog chewed them, take some work.
The home owner started it and realized it was too much for him. So we're "helping." Aka, fixing his ____ ups... which is all of it. It's one of the worst ones I've been on.
I'm not sure what the arrangements are, but I would have charged double, or had him take it all out to studs.
I hate drywall, but I'm extremely good at it.

It's much easier to put in a sleeper stud than to do it over.

It is. It's a pieced together mess. I took out several of his patches and shimmed them out. Drywall shims that he had, but didn't use.
This is one of those jobs that you put a new guy on to see what he knows and if he's going to stick around.

Having done several remodels, I've realized it's much easier to start fresh than to "repair" what some DIY'er did. The crappy work encountered has astonished me at times.

Back at it this morning. Started by taking the whole ceiling out. I've never seen so many floating joints in such a small area.
Cheeta to keep me zooming through this. I do not want to be over here again tomorrow

Assorted Bernard's.
Toque pkg hasn't left New York. They didn't advertise new shipping like MrSnuff, but I was intrigued when Toque created the Wappingers Falls label. I'm in no hurry. I'm just going to cram the stuff up my nose holes anyway.

Pro Tip: if you misplace your snuff spoon and pipe tools and cuticle pusher*, the spoony end of a crab fork is perfect!
Old Paris alternating with HDT #22.
*for goodness' sake, don't use a cuticle pusher on your nails.

Dragonadras today.
Day 3 at this job and finally on my skim coat.
The owner came in last night and put in metal corners. I came in this morning and took them down and put them in the right way. Having a 5 3/4" corner on a 4 1/2" wall just doesnt work for me.

It sounds like that homeowner needs to go away for a few days and let you do your thing.
