Full disclosure; I never liked the smell of the typical cigar. That said, I am curious what cigars would be recommended for a pipe smoker who enjoys heavy Balkan English blends and a few aero's

I'm not qualified to answer this, but I found that the mild cigars like Hamlet were a good alternative to the pipe and not as harsh as the big fat stogies that I can't stomach.

La Joya makes a really good and cost effective option.

I'm probably not going to be much help, as I was never more than a very occasional cigar smoker and haven't had one in two years or more. But I used to like the little Willem cigars, way back when I worked downtown (so this was over 20 years ago) and Iwan Ries sold them; and I used to pick up a 5-pack of those Backwoods stogies or Swisher Sweets once in a while.
In other words, I have no taste whatever.

Drew Estates makes the Deadwood Tobacco Co.'s Leather Rose. It has a very sweet tasting wrapper. I also heard that the filler contains burley so it gives the impression of pipe tobacco. I have smoked them and I enjoyed them as a departure from my usual full bodied cigars.

Although there's nothing as satisfying as a nice medium to full bodied Cuban, Opus X or others (as long as they're a satisfying complex / multi-dimensional smoke and not just harsh) to me anyway...
For my "every day on the golf course" smoke I prefer medium / mild cigars.
This easily allows me to share with others, many of whom are not "frequent" cigars smokers, thereby introducing them to a more manageable experience and not so much an "in yer face" one.
Also being that I'll smoke several during any given round (4 to 6 ) I usually grab either a box of Arturo Fuente Curly Heads, around $2 or $3 a stick, Dilemma's, or Factory Smokes.
All affordable medium mild smokes.
Also, don't be afraid to let the shop keeper know that you would like to "ease yer way" into cigar smoking and are looking for more of a mild experience to begin with.
I also find Pleiades and Butera offer medium / mild sticks.
just my $0.02
Cheers & happy cigar smokin

My favorite cigar is a Fuente Hemingway Short Story. Medium smoke, just the right size. Having said that if you are looking for something mild, try a cigar with a Connecticut Wrapper. Those are always mild. And many of the online stores will put those on sale as they are not as popular as the full bodied cigar, so you can find a deal.

The only cigars I can think to recommend to you if you want wild aromatic infused oils and coffee, and fruits and such in cigars are the Acid series of cigars. Other than that I can really only say you're going to find primarily "typical cigar smells and flavors" when you smoke cigars. Pipe tobaccos are sweeter and milder and cased, cigars are full flavored stronger tobaccos. There were some new cigars recently done in collaboration with Jeremy Reeves of SmokingPipes using latakia and some cigars using Perique tobacco but I cannot seem to find them now when looking for them.
If you're dabbling into cigars, my favorites are Perdomo, and Arturo Fuentes primarily. I also like La Flor Dominicanas, Don Pepin Garcias, and a few others here and there. As others have said, stick to some Connecticut wrappers and "Naturals" if you're looking for a more medium bodied cigar and shorter and smaller ring gauge if at all bothered by too much nicotine.
Perdomo Lot 23 are about my favorite line of cigars. I love everything from Perdomo and Arturo Fuente, though.

I tend prefer a good English/Balkan blend pipe tobacco, so my choice of cigar may reflect that. That said, I and tend to go for those with Maduro and Cameroon wrappers. Something with a spice and natural sweetness.
My go to regular around the yard cigars are the Tatuaje Verucu No.5 and the 7-20-4 Factor 57 Dogwalker. Some of my favorites for sitting and enjoying are the Arturo Fuente Anejo 888 (when I can get them), Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art, and Oliva Serie V Melanio corona.
I also tend to prefer smaller ring gauge cigars, as they seem to offer better flavors to me. Big ring gauges are popular, but always seem to taste like ash to me in the last 1/3 of the cigar.
I tried the deadwood Sweet Jane and Crazy Alice offerings. They are marketed as being similar to pipe tobacco, but found them almost sickeningly sweet.
YMMV,
RSD

There are many cigars to chose from... I recommended KFC due to how I read the original question. The KFC cigar is not one of my favorites. However, they are a decent stick (try one with a rich cup of java.) that might appeal to one without much cigar experience, who enjoys the pipe tobacco blends mentioned.
PS. I am trying to keep it simple for someone who is not familiar with cigars. My starting point, in this case, is KFC. If further recommendations are requested, I am happy to help pair a few more to a better understood palate.
Cigarpage is gem for prices on certain sticks, (Like I stated look for the sales.)

I can also recommend the KFC cigar. I've had it as well as the KFC Swamp Thang. While not in my regular rotation, they were both good smokes, and I wouldn't hesitate to have either again.

Disclaimer: I rarely smoke cigars.
That out of the way, how about Italian dry cigars? Like Parodi? They have that fire cured taste and are user friendly and inexpensive.
Laugh me out of the thread now.

I like the Toscano cheroots, a great smoke and a stick that travels well, no humidification needed.
And when I wear my hat, boots, and serape, I feel like I am in a spaghetti western.
Wait a minute… I thought this was the what are you wearing? Thread.

Lovin all the contributions here. Many sticks I haven't smoked in ages, several I've never tried.
It's no surprise there are as many varying preferences in cigars as there are in pipe tobacco blends.
I truly love our ability to enjoy all of the variations in both. (for now at least. :-( )

STOP, Turn around and RUN! You think your PAD and TAD are bad. See what happens if you get CAD!
Lot of good ideas here. Like the pipe, follow your taste. If anyone at the cigar shop is also a pipe smoker, ask them what they think also.

I guess my suggestion wasn't too crazy. The Toscanos do give that fistful of dollars vibe.

This was one that was also recommended by Joe when I met him at RJ's. Unfortunately they didn't carry it. The Gentleman said he sued to but they were not selling.

As much as I enjoy the profile and flavor of a Toscano, they seem to give me a headache most of the time when I smoke one. I guess it's the straight dark fired smoke that doesn't quite agree with me. On the last three occasions I was smoking them by the half stick (Traditonal Italian way to smoke them, by cutting them in half and smoking it like cheroot) I got a headache during smoking it each time. Your mileage will vary.

So I'm sitting at RJ's with a KFC murat lit.
Won't be a daily because I can't afford it, but I definitely like this one and the shop owner said he has a cigar made of pipes tobacco in going to give a go. Thanks for the advice
