I knew of him, never followed his writings, but that was an interesting read...thanks!
If he was serious about his daily routine, it is amazing he lasted five years at that pace.

I was a fan of his since the late 1960s. He lived not far from me in San Francisco. Enjoyed his articles and books.

I’m a book collector with a focus on the counterculture. The collection has really nice group of HST firsts and other related ephemera.

I've read several of his novels as well as seen all the movies.
Novels I've read: The Rum Diary, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, The Great Shark Hunt:Strange Tales from a Strange Time, Fear and Loathing in America: The Brutal Odyssey of an Outlaw Journalist '68-'76
There are a few others of his papers I'd like to read when I get around to finding them in print. He would occasionally smoke a pipe but was primarily a cigarette smoker and would often smoke cigs in those extravagantly long cigarette holders.

It seems like we had a bit in common in our youth, but I made different decisions, which I don't regret.

Very few could pull off HST’s (no, not Harry S. Truman) life style. Or maybe would even want to. He performed a very useful function with his life’s work, but in the end he ate his gun. Sad, but true.
