Easier said than done. Here in NM, MDs and hospitals have eliminated paper scripts. All electronic notification. There is no good way to tell the Pharmacy not to follow what they have on record and not notify the insurance company. That is done before the wire script is filled. Just tell them you are paying cash, full price. I do it all the time. I have been known to fill certain scripts at a pharmacy that I haven't given my insurance to. I guess I do not understand. Those days have passed here. The pharmacy has billed the insurance company before the script is filled. By the time I get there to pick up it is all done. I would have to have the pharmacy switch me fro insurance to self-pay on my scripts and that is something I cannot afford. Am I missing a step here?

On my (Part D Medicare) insurance it was $167, on SilverScript it was 137 and on GoodRX it was $117. Cash was $60, so guess what I did? We have a real pharmacist that will talk to us and help us. You can't do this at a CVS or Walgreens. He is also the owner.

Legislation is a blunt tool, but it's what we've got. Hope you get some relief soon, Monty. This was back in 2018. I had surgery to remove the disc and fuse the vertebrae later that year. No problems since, except some slight numbness in a couple fingers of my right hand. My trigger finger, wouldn't you know! Oh. I misread. Thought your back troubles only started in 2018.

Prior to getting shut off in 2017, when the 2016 CDC Guidelines became de facto law and states were outdoing each others'inhumanity, I had to wait until the day the Rx was due to pick it up. One time I dropped the turtlespouse at work and went to the drive through at about 7:20am. They told me to come back at 9am; they couldn't fill it sooner. Like I'm going to addict a child with one extra pill? And always the drive through so you don't have five people behind you seeing that you have to show your license.
