I had to cut some Black Irish XX after that talk. Except Brown. And Bogie, in a in a Grabow Lovat (?). I can't do the black ropes. It's like smoking salmon skin to me. I usually like weird tobacco, though. How about SG Black XX? it's more like snuffed candles, burnt leather and overcooked meat but with a hint of baking spices!

But in snuff I like a few that have some charred flesh and asphalt vibes that I do like. Go figure.

Followed by Embarcadero in this big ol' Radice: Great blast! Thanks. That's what caught my eye about that one: all those lovely grain lines. (The color scheme isn't really my thing, but it isn't remotely as bright in daily use as it is there, inside a lightbox.) It's consistent, too. Here's the other side: Radice gives some of the best value for money in pipes these days, imho.

I am sorry to hear of the dogs passing. They are great companions, and it is always sad when they go.
It was cold, but somewhat calm this afternoon. I was able to get in a bowl of C&D Engine No. 99 in my Nording Nose warmer before dinner.

Now having some GH Balkan mixture in sandblasted B42 Pete. I'm so sorry for your loss. Our dogs are such a big part of what makes us human. If there is a downside to having a dog or cat as a friend, it's that we outlive them; I always tell myself that God fixed it that way, so we can share our life with so many, but that never lessens the pain of loss. Haddo's Delight, in a Savinelli Oscar, was my final smoke last night, now I'm having more of the same in my Kristi FreeHand, with the usual hot coffee.
