I wonder why everyone is leaving California with all the beautiful country and weather? I would think that it's paradise. "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined."

So land that is owned by the people, cannot be used by the people, nor can they allow legal commerce to proceed because some criminal is likely to purchase a firearm or ammunition.....SO...That is where the criminals are? I'm sure that the gangs all get their firearms and ammunition there at the fairgrounds.
These representatives of the people are just plain moronic!

The only time that I have drawn a gun on anyone was when a gang of thugs decided it was time to rob me and it happened in Ontario California where I was in violation of the law by carrying. Had I not been armed that day, my head would have undoubtedly been stomped in the gutter by scumbags that do not deserve to live. The legislators and bureaucrats live in their protected communities, and the celebrities can afford a security detail. If you are a regular Joe Schmo, you are not allowed to defend yourself with equal force that a criminal has… I no longer go to California. From 2010: www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=937590I avoid any state in the Red, and it suits me fine.

Just a heads up. New Hampshire went to Constitutional carry in 2017. Maine in 2015. No permits required to ccw, though there are some restrictions around schools and govt buildings.

Ever since Reginald Denny, a truck driver (Concrete, I believe) in Los Angeles was dragged out of the cab and had his head crushed by a concrete block by a thug back in '92, I have believed that commercial truck drivers and delivery agents should all be issued side arms. They have a lot of property to protect along with their own lives. Denny lived, BTW. His assailant died in prison.

I love happy endings. We ALL have the right of self defence. My comment was not about the right. It was about the necessity. I remembered back in the 1920s and 1930s all USPS employees sorting and handling Registered Mail were required to be armed and at their own expense. Not Letter Carriers but the Registered Mail clerks on mail trains and at post offices. Cash and valuables went through the US Mail and they felt a duty to protect the property and lives of their employees. ANother interpretation of what "Going Postal" could mean, eh?

I think that was limited to the Appalachians. Postal workers were often mistaken for revenue men. lol
