Wife went to the store today. Road crew working to make driveway approaches, when they were close to ours wife filled a large basket with snacks and cokes, walking the highway giving out snacks, some only took one wife chided them take more, there’s more in the house. I believe it was the first time they had been treated like that. My wife said in the fifties when highway crew was working her Grandmother made her bring coffee and treats in a tray to the workers. Not enough civility in this world. My wife is an angel!

I am wearing a hardhat and a safety vest...carry a shovel when going by Brad's Hacienda. Good on you, Brad, and your bride! It is not uncommon for my customers to give cold drinks and snacks, it is always appreciated. I do the same when I have workers in and about my home.

My experience on road crews working was wearing a striped suit, dragging a chain and yelling, "I shaking the bush, Boss!"
Naturally, no one brought out cookies or pitchers of lemonade.
Seriously, been on two penal road crews in my youth. No chains, no stripes and no goodies!
Brad's Missus is the best! We already knew that.

Common Coursety, long time ago at a dove hunt , my buddy’s old uncles farm, we limited out. Found out those hunters weren’t versed in manners, no doves for the landowner. I stopped at the farmhouse and knocked on door, old Cajun lady came asked her if this was their property she said yes, asked her if she wanted some her eyes sparkled and said she did but was too old to clean them, told her I’ll clean them, went to their barn and cleaned all of them, went and gave the clean birds to her, you’d of thought I gave her the world. She reminded me of my old grandmother. I slept good that night.

I honestly love to give someone an unexpected gift. When I was a kid we gave the postman and the trash collectors whiskey. This year we gave our USPS, UPS, and FedEx drivers fancy cakes for Christmas. We got hugs from 2 of them.

You guys are the best! My treatments end next week and the folks at the cancer center have been so good to me I’m going to the liquor store in the Cowboy Capital tomorrow on the way home and get a case of good wine to leave with them on my last day. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all indulged in the pleasure and decency of “random acts of kindness” from time to time?

This Christmas season we left a large box outside everyday with drinks and snacks for the USPS/UPS/FedEx guys doing their many more than multiple daily deliveries.

When in Los Angeles, I used to leave out a package containing a bottle of Bourbon, Scotch and Mexican Brandy for the three City of Los Angles Solid Waste guys who picked up my trash. They sure loved that and never forgot.
