I just read about this site on the Peterson pipe notes. From the newsletter: “ Also important: I met the dynamic couple operating a new site, Tinbids.com. There were far more vintage tins at the show than I’ve seen before, but there’s a problem Tinbids is seeking to solve for all of us: what to do with those tins that we’re not interested in anymore but don’t have decades of age on them? Pipestud is a great source for selling the old stuff (at least for those with deep pockets), but if you’re like me you’ve got a stack that you’d just like to make back your money. So when I got home earlier this week I put up two tins, just as a test. As of this writing, they both have bids. While the platform isn’t very robust yet, Tinbids works pretty much like eBay. Put up a few photos, a short description and a price (after registering), then wait for bids. They charge a consignment fee of 8 1/2 % (same as eBay) plus .99 for each listing. When you ship the tins, PayPal sends your money. Cool. Maybe it’s too soon for a full-fledged endorsement, but I’m really hoping this works out, for all of us.” tinbids.com/

I hope they are wildly successful. The cost of selling is a lot more attractive than the lone other option for a seller. And the product doesn't have to ship twice, which one shipment is paid for by the seller, and an opportunity to get lost/damaged. Smart on their part also, they don't have to warehouse the stuff inevitably ending in having to get commercial property. I hope the credit card companies do not blackball them in their selectivity on who they deem engaging in reprehensible behavior. They seem to get their jollies out of doing so.

Thanks for the heads up. We can never have enough sources to sell our tobacco. I signed up and plan on checking the site daily.

I am watching all of the auctions, it will be interesting to see the realized prices. I hope they get all the money for their tins. I noticed there is a reserve on one of the tins. i wonder if all of the listings have a reserve? I haven't bid on anything with a reserve on it in over a decade.

Some do some don’t, I don’t blame a seller putting a reserve on it. If I were a seller, I wouldn’t want something to sell for less than what I paid for a tin, especially unobtainable tobacco.

It's great that you can do that in USA. I'm also interested in how much the tins are going for. There are some expensive items there.

There's a bag of Peacehaven already bid up to $355 for an 8 ounce bag from Mr Blandings. I've met and traded with him in person at the NASPC show.

But I'm somewhat speculating based on a conversation from five years back and assuming he's added much more.
In fact now that I'm paying attention, most of these listings are his, lol.

Have you looked under his tobacco cellar? It's in a vault, and underneath the tins legend has it anyway is $100 billion dollars in $100 bills.

Up in the header at the top of your browser, it should show "Auction #yyyy [Seller's account name]"

I am not seeing it on the mobile version… which isn’t surprising, often the mobile version doesn’t have all the bells and whistles.

Wow!!! I just like the tin. If anyone has and empty, I'd gladly make a trade for it. Same with Pelican.

Seems Mr. Blandings is still cashing in his entire cellar on that site. Seems he's sold 50-100 tins at well over $5k...
I see he's now listing tins of the newly released C&D Anthology. I get selling the real aged tins and making a pretty penny but that's just purely scalping at the point that you're buying brand new tin releases to auction.
And he's really unloading it. 95%~ of the auctions on the site have only been from him.

As the old saying goes…”The market determines what a product is worth, and what others decide to pay for it” Not a whole lot of arm twisting going on…I guess he could offer it up for what the sticker price is on the back, but that would be pretty foolish. More power to those willing to pay for unobtainium. As far as currently available tobacco goes, Pipestud was selling the same Vintage Syrian tins for quadruple? the price when it was still available at Smokingpipes. “A fool and his money are soon parted” thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/3034/wow-consignments

To be clear, I'm not faulting selling the old tins. I don't care if he sells 1994 tins for $500, go for it. I'm mostly pointing at selling the just sold out Anthology right away, as it's pretty easy to buy 100 tins of it and turn around and auction it if that was your intention. Once it's all sold out...
To prevent the scalping, I sort of wish C&D would/could up their Small batch releases to something like 25k, or 50k tins. Make it just a little less limited and then hopefully it'd be available for a couple months before it's all gone.

I hear you, but when it is still available as the case was with Vintage Syrian…it is on the consumer to educate themselves.
I guess that as Pipestud says, international buyers are still saving money buying on the secondary market, the seller and pioestud can make a few coins and the buyer is still getting it cheaper than on the primary market.
