I had sent a member a NOS extremely rare pipe that I never wanted sold, my “ only “ stipulation. I knew he’d add the pipe to his collection of this maker/manufacturer. He sent me a PM asking if I wanted a nosewarmer he was going to restore but never got around to it. It is Algerian Briar and a nosewarmer, so of course I said YES and thanks MUCH. Today when I received the package, much to my surprise was two restored Algerian briar nosewarmer’s. The top pipe is a LaFond’s Chubby Apple and the other an Edwards Dublin nosewarmer. I’m looking forward to smoking these within a day or two. Great looking pipes, Ted...'specially the bottom one. Really nice haul, John! Smoke it in rude good health! That Vauen, headrott, is a really fine looking burner! WOW, Josh, all my favorites...Butternut Burley, Bengal Slices and Plum Pudding...you're gonna have a really good time. Great cellar you are building...glad to see it happening. Now is the time to be loadin' up on what you like...no tellin' what the future holds. Paddy, time to stain and glaze that POY cob...make it look just terrific! Kernels look like they would take the stain nicely. ... Actually, this cob needs no adjustment.

I love the look of the poty cob, it fits me. Its slowly moving up the ranks of my favorites.
Walt, the cellar is growing nicely, especially since I really dont have to smoke anything I've bought myself. I have so many "samples" that you sent me home with, and so many that others have sent, that I dont even have to touch mine. The 515 RC is the exception, I love that stuff.

Just placed a small order for some tobaccos I haven't tried. I have a tin of Wessex Vintage Flake, a couple of McConnell's Folded Flake, and two tins of Dunhill Standard Mixture on the way. I have liked almost every Wessex flake I have tried, and every McConnell tobacco. The Dunhills were the last two in stock, and since I like Early Morning Pipe, I decided to grab them as well. It's always fun to get a package in the mail, however small....

Well here is a bit of a sad one. My wife's grandmother passed recently, at an advanced age, and going through her effects, we found her own father's last pipe. This was something of a surprise, since she was not the eldest. It is probably his "church" pipe, since it isn't a cob, which he was known to love. Some cobs were in the same cabinet, but they were in no condition to be preserved It's a "Thermofilter," a well known American make. It has eight or ten putty fills. It's about a Dunhill group 1 size. It's really not a great pipe. And while it is well-smoked, you can tell he never, ever, changed the filter. I am probably not going to smoke this one. I just wanted to hang on to a token of my wife's grandmother's family.

Just got home about an hour or so ago, been in Phoenix all week for work and a couple of days of play. ;-) When I got home there were a few things waiting for me, as well as half a dozen or so tins I picked up from my buddy Gary who drove up from Tucson and spent the evening with my buddy John and I on Friday...

Inspired by the recent OTC thread I ordered up some pouches from the P&C sale:
Hearth & Home Mid-Town Chatham Manor 2 Ounce Pouch
Classic Burley Kake Bulk Per OZ
Five Brothers 1.25 Ounce Pouch
Captain Black Copper 1.5 Ounce Pouch
Never tried any of these. Looking forward to it!

Just got an email from SP, my Voodoo Queen will be on it's way soon.
I feel bad about the free tobacco from my last 2 orders, but they have the best customer service I have ever dealt with. Even when I told them it wasnt a big deal and I just wanted to make them aware of the issue(s), they made it right.
This is why they get the majority of my business.

Trying not to order anything for a while. Last year I bought too much tobacco and too many pipes. Unless I want to devote an entire room to storage, going to have to lay low for a bit. I wonder how long my resolve will last on that one.

SP is the tops of customer service. There are number of other great places too, of course. They replaced a Vauen pipe where the tenon on the pipe snapped after the first smoke. They also sent me two free tins of G.L. Pease Triple Play becasue they forgot to include one. They also replaced 6 tins of G.L. Pease Temple Bar for me a bout 2 years ago because of mold in one. I have spent a vast majority of my money at SP because if something goes wrong, they make it right or even better than right. Glad they made it right for you too!

Glad you like the samples...this is what AJ did for me...and that is why I have so many sample jars that you have seen a number of times when you visited...just payin' it forward as we all try to do. Is the Sunset Rum any good? I guess I really answered my own question...wouldn't have bought it if you didn't like it. If you wouldn't mind, bring me a sample so I can see how much I don't like it...really shouldn't be doing this...promised I wouldn't buy any more tobacco......soon.

Next time I'm down I'll bring enough Sunset Rum so if you like it you wont have to buy any for a while. I have a larger quantity than I ever planned on having, thanks to a sp mess up.

I came home to an international parcel that couldn't be delivered... Has someone been naughty? Turns out someone HAD been naughty. I had the package redelivered to the local post office and I picked it up just there now... I couldn't believe my eyes - a BP POTY 2018 pipe from flybypipe . I am still kinda speechless at Dean's generosity. I don't even know what to say to him except a massive 'thank you'. That pipe is beautiful, too. It looks so much better in 'person'. congratulations! good for you, flybypipe

My Don Warren bowls came in. The small bowl on the left is a Kirsten size "L" -- Don's bowls are very much "XL" They're quite lovely, better looking than in the promotional photos, even. A gentle and extremely consistent blast on the briar, a simpler finish on the bog oak. I think the bog oak black-on-black look is pretty snazzy, myself. I was always curious about the material but too cheap to buy a whole pipe made out of it love that Kirsten, especially with the morta bowl!

That's what I was thinking too! And also the reason I grabbed it. It was made by Robert Hlavaty and is a "sea snail." Never heard of the guy, but he was apparently a pipe maker who passed on.
Unsmoked and less than $60. I cant wait to see it in person

I thought so too. I watched it through the weekend and there was only 2 others that bid on it. I put in a max bid last night and really figured I'd lose right at the end like always. I watched, and watched. .... and watched. Not one more bid was placed.
For what I paid, I would have bought it just to sit on my desk and look at.

I have some pipes that just sit there at look pretty... useful pieces of art.
