That's what I was thinking too! And also the reason I grabbed it. It was made by Robert Hlavaty and is a "sea snail." Never heard of the guy, but he was apparently a pipe maker who passed on. Unsmoked and less than $60. I cant wait to see it in person That’s a very different looking pipe, sea snail is the perfect name. The price you paid is extremely reasonable 👍👍. May it smoke well for you for many years to come!!!

I've seen a lot of Nordings sculpted that way, but not as drastic, or complex. I like it!

After looking at this thing for a while, I decided I needed it. This creature is on it's way to me. It's certainly different but I wouldn't mind it sitting in my pipe rack. Hope you enjoy it Josh.

Three pounds of Dunhill Elizabethan Match and two pounds of Sutliff 507-C Slices, the latter I'll age for a few years before I smoke them. The difference is amazing for that blend.

Found 3 tins of 3P and one of Syrian Artisan at a B&M today and now I’m smoking Dunbar in their lounge.

Did the “what are you smoking thread” merge with “What’s in the Mail?”

Relaxing after a wonderful pizza dinner. I made the pizza dough myself, and cooked it to give m'lady the evening off. I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of MacBaren HH Balkan Blend in a full bend black pebble finish 2001 Rinaldo Lithos YY8 Titania Silver Line egg with a black acrylic stem. Watching a Tex Ritter movie. Are we suppose to post what we are smoking here now or are you getting the same sleep I am??

Did the “what are you smoking thread” merge with “What’s in the Mail?” My bad. Senior moment. Shift it over, Andre.

That pipe is huge, you are right, Josh. But you ain't no little guy like me, so you can pull it off, certainly better than me. Course I don't go out that often, so no one would notice a block of wood with an old guy behind it. Fill it up and fire it up!

Its comfortable in the hand too. It will sit unsmoked until I decide what to throw in it, could be minutes, days, or months. Just like my Michael Addis sat unsmoked for a few months. Then 5100 just seemed to be the right thing for it. (Along with beardedmi pushing me to smoke it)

Gnarly pipe!
You might get a 2 hour smoke out of it... congrats on the addition to the family.

Thank you, I agree. I'm sure it's going to sit "as is" for a while. I have enough pipes to keep me busy. Time will tell though.

A pipes purpose is to smoke. It isn't completely a pipe until it burns things. Big bowls without a starter coating are rough to break in, theres so much surface area itll take a few. Lol you just needed a nudge to smoke that MAddis, I just provided it for you.

Aside from that, they are unarguably works of art. It's not a blender or a toaster.

Aside from that, they are unarguably works of art. It's not a blender or a toaster. I'm speaking more in terms of an object has a purpose and until its used for that purpose it isn't fully realized. It certainly is up to the owner whether to smoke it or not. In Josh's case he hadn't experienced an artisan pipe until then and Michael makes a damn fine pipe. It seemed the universe offered him an opportunity, he just needed a nudge.
