My Don Warren bowls came in. The small bowl on the left is a Kirsten size "L" -- Don's bowls are very much "XL" They're quite lovely, better looking than in the promotional photos, even. A gentle and extremely consistent blast on the briar, a simpler finish on the bog oak. I think the bog oak black-on-black look is pretty snazzy, myself. I was always curious about the material but too cheap to buy a whole pipe made out of it
Pretty cool setup. I am looking at some of his bowls now on etsy, but I don't see where to get the shaft/stem part?
The shaft/stem is the expensive part. You can order directly from Kirsten. I don't know of any other dealers remaining.
They're each hand-worked by a machinist, in the USA, so they are not inexpensive pipes.
Boy howdy does the Kirsten system work, though. It's impossible to make the pipe gurgle. You can puff like a freight train and you'll never get it hot.

Well, my most honorable and well-approved good masters, this I hope is a straggling remnant of my latest PAD and not the harbinger of a new one. I should get it tomorrow, as it was mailed to me right after purchase from BRB, which is par for the course for this excellent e-seller. Not the highest grade KW, but unsmoked and just high enough to clinch the deal. A Kaywoodie Super Grain Syncro-Lok 07 Sitter billiard. Right now I can only provide this link to the BRB page, which is a good thing anyway, until the pipe is delivered unto my hands and I can take its photo. Lo, behold. www.blueroombriars.com/collections/american-estates/products/kaywoodie-super-grain-syncro-lok-07-sitter-billiard-unsmoked-estate-pipe

I received a surprise package from a very thoughtful and generous member of the Patch. When I opened the box I was totally flabbergasted .........completely blown away!!! From brother #6 James aka Scrooge to #8....ME!! Words can not describe how his thoughtfulness hit me in the heart. I’m honored to have met many great people within this forum. This is the “ ONLY “ forum where I received 🎁 gifts 🎁. When I gift I choose to remain anonymous, I got permission from James to post his generosity within a picture. This is the box I received with three rows of FINE cigars. Every time I smoke one I will include what cigar I’m smoking. Way to many to name, but you’ll get an idea from the picture. Thank you again James, I’m lost for words....which usually never happens😘

I enjoy cigars but lately I havent been able to find the time for one. I have about 20 in a box just waiting for me.
One day when the stars align just right, I'll be able to sit down and enjoy it. If I dont figure out how babies are made I dont think that time will ever come.

Sorry, EVERYTHING is currently frozen in the Upper Midwest, including shipping updates. Seriously, it's cold enough and the roads are bad enough that I have seen bars closing early today and announcing that they would be closed tomorrow.

Got a new-old-stock Ferndown in the mail today. A 3-star "Bark." Stars aren't a grade, but rather a size measurement. It's quite large. A large group 6, or a modest ODA, in Dunhill terms. The stem needs some professional attention but even my ham-handed polishing was enough to make it smokeable.

Good chance tobacco ordered in these frigid temps will get frozen somewhere along the way.......... I’ll find out when it gets here. 😜 Since Rattray’s finally appeared back in stock at SP on Tuesday, I ordered some. Mail delivery was cancelled for here yesterday and today. From tracking updates, it does not appear that the box is moving in the system.

It’s below freezing for 4+ months of the year here. I don’t worry about it and order. Although, if I end up buying a really nice pipe in the winter, I will usually pay extra for overnight shipping.

2 packages today. Still missing one from iwan Ries. I contacted them to see if it was because of the weather, he asked the ship date and I told him. He said it wasnt because if the weather and usps most likely misplaced it. He also said to give it a few more days and if the tracking doesn't update then theyll take care of it. This GBD Oom Paul needs a good cleaning, but I knew that before hand and I'm pleased with it so far. And a bunch of wonderful tobacco!

kbareit nice haul you have there as well. That 1792 will be opened as soon as I finish the little bit I have left from Josh. I LOVE that stuff. Now that my cold is gone I can try the other 4 you sent as well. I've never had any of them, so I'm looking forward to it. I fell in love with the HUGE GBD that Walt gifted me. And then James sent me another smaller one. They are excellent pipes and both of them are straight. The few bent pipes I have, I love. The shape of an Oom Paul just fits me in every way I can think of. When I seen a GBD Oom Paul for a reasonable price, it was a no brainer. I'll start the clean up process tomorrow. It's going to take some time. As it sits, a cleaner will not pass through the stem or through the bowl. But a little air will travel through so at least it's not fully clogged.

Love the bend of the stem. I have an unnamed Oom Paul and the stem is at a 45 deg angle. Really uncomfortable and the smoke comes right back in my face. Get some rubbing alcohol 91% and just soak the cleaners and keep working them until the gunk softens up. The wosrt part of pipe cleaning is the stem when it is clogged. Take your time and I'm sure it will be a great smoker when you're done with it.

The stem is always the worst. The first one I ever attempted was an LHS bulldog. Theres some pics of it floating around here somewhere. It turned out wonderful after lots and lots....and lots of time.
Maybe I'll finally get a chance to smoke one if these cigars I've had floating around for months.

The worst of the cold is past the USPS started to deliver here again today after two days of suspended service. Adding to the cellar. I find it interesting that this is from a new shipment at SP and yet they have the old labels. So, I am guessing that even though places have been out of stock of Rattray's for a while, there must have been some stuck somewhere in the distribution channel.
