So I cleaned up the mystery "Hansen" pipe today -- that's how I eager I was, I got to it the same day it came in. I gave it a gentle ream, as I do every used pipe that passes through my hands, and I was surprised to find the bowl coating just flaked right off. And underneath, was, I sh** you not, JB Weld. I about messed my pants with surprise. My reamer couldn't touch the JB Weld layer. Didn't make a dent. Had to get medieval on that sucker with a Dremel.
From talking to the seller, I have come to believe that a naive American pipemaker decided to create his bowl-coating with carbon black applied to the inside of a coat of JB Weld. Not great. Ground it a bit out of round with the tungsten disc, but, I got all the JB Weld out. All's well that ends well: smoked just fine, burning down the virgin Briar with some St Bruno. Clenches marvelously. ...happy it worked out, man... it's a gorgeous pipe...

Very nice blast! That pipe is worth catching hell over. ππ Ditto Baboo's comments about Blue Room Briars. Scott and Jesse are great guys to deal with. Iβve never actually ordered from their website. Iβve interacted with them in person at the Chicago and Columbus shows where I can drool over their stock in person.

My first mail call for the year. 4x Redwood, 2x Stratford and a tub of Lane Ready Rubbed. The pipe is a new Savinelli Autograph Mignon partially blasted Fan. I will create a post in the Pipes section with detailed pics of the pipe. 90% of the cost of the pipe was covered by making a friend a really good deal for my stock of McC FMotB.

Maybe I should try that on my beautiful and tolerant (within limits) wife. Can't hurt to try. "Seriously, hun, JimInks has way more tobacco than I do and @lonecoyote says it will never be cheaper."

Finally got these yesterday. I ordered them Dec 4 and after many emails asking where they were and no response sent another requesting immediate shipping or the credit card company would pull the charge. A few hours later got a shipping notification. Pulled my membership and will not deal with again.

Just scored an 8oz bag of Margate, and a tin of Red Rapparee from a local B&M. Paid a little extra (about $15 over internet prices), since it's a B&M, but they're two things I haven't had, and so I deem it worth it.

I have two bent Black Rose Forever Stems on the way from Walker Briars. They should arrive on a Monday 01/28/2019. They are destined to be attached to two MM Country Gentleman Pipes that Walt stained for me.

My Don Warren bowls came in. The small bowl on the left is a Kirsten size "L" -- Don's bowls are very much "XL" They're quite lovely, better looking than in the promotional photos, even. A gentle and extremely consistent blast on the briar, a simpler finish on the bog oak. I think the bog oak black-on-black look is pretty snazzy, myself. I was always curious about the material but too cheap to buy a whole pipe made out of it
Pretty cool setup. I am looking at some of his bowls now on etsy, but I don't see where to get the shaft/stem part?

After looking at this thing for a while, I decided I needed it. This creature is on it's way to me.
So Gnarly! It looks like one of those villagers from a Lovecraft story where they are mutating into sea creatures. hahaha Or a member of Bootstrap Bill's crew. I'm pretty jealous.

More of the f'ing TAD madness continues. But, I am now a VIP Silver customer at SP! 1lb of C&D Red Odessa (thanks to roadsdiverged for turning me on to it) 2 tins of Pease Abingdon 2 tins of Jack Knife Plug 2 tins of Meridian 2 tins of Samarra 1lb of Stokkebye of LBF (thanks to @lonecoyote for the recommendation) For all your new members, this is how the patch works. I NEVER would have though of the Red Odessa or the LBF until a brother member turned me on to them. Now, I am debating whether I ordered enough. They are both THAT good!

Haha! You're welcome. You can thank Ted for the Red Odessa as well, he turned me on to it.
I should have sent you some Andullo. I'm sure you would have like that one as well.
