Not in the mail, but I just scored a 2017 100g tin of Vintage Syrian. I really want to try it, but I might have to save it for a rainy day fund several years from now.

A box of beautifulness! Yeah!!! That is the ticket...stock up on your favorites while you still can.....and smart move on that Vintage Syrian...surprised that you were able to get a whole pound...now I know who to talk to when I get down to the last tin. Vintage Syrian will never be anymore, between the wars and the heroin battles...vintage Syrian is a thing of the past...much like Colombian Gold.

I thought the Syrian Latakia was going the way of the Dodo because of the trees, not wars and drugs.
I grabbed a pound bag very early in my smoking career because I knew it was going away and I already liked Cyprian lat. The problem now is, I dont particularly care for cyprian lat, unless it is a condiment (think Mississippi river). Syrian lat, on the other hand, is delicious and I havent grown tired of it. I just dont have the large supply of it that I wish I did.

All of the afore mentioned events are what is taking its toll on Syrian...I would say that what you have is what you may ever have...me, I'm hanging on to my Vintage Syrian and yeah, it is delicious!

I just dont have the large supply of it that I wish I did. Yes that's the reason that I've read; the Latakia producers were decimating the forests of the wood used [Syrian Oak] where it almost became extinct. The Syrian govt. stopped Latakia production but then let it start up again, probably in the hope that producers would self regulate & harvest the Syrian Oak sustainably, only to again halt production when destruction of forests got even worse. [Talk about the producers shooting themselves in the foot] The war in Syria is so exaggerated. Not half as bad as MSM make out. Fighting is restricted to certain areas. Syrian 'refugees' in Europe have been returning home to holiday during the war [putting paid to the lie that they fled for fear of their lives] One website showed vids of towns where life is totally unaffected by the war. If the Syrian govt has any brains between them, they'd take charge of the Oak forests & regulate distribution of the wood to producers in a sustainable manner. I really don't know what I'm missing as I've never tried the Syrian variety. Cyprian will have to do.

I've been suffering from a virus for a couple of weeks. Feeling lousy and severe gut cramps is doing me in.
So I needed some cheering up. Received an 80's Venini smooth Apple half bent & 80's Venini half-bent smooth Billiard from MarkenPipes. [There's 3 Venini pipes for sale the last time I looked. Nice pipes, thick chamber walls, big bowls & they're good smokers. I've now got 6 Venini's] A Rossi Bull 30109 that I won on ebay months ago finally arrived [long story]. Wish I knew how to upload pics; it's an outstanding pipe.
Then this morning a 4oz tin of SPC Mississippi River Special Reserve landed at my door with a nice sample of PS LBF [thanks to fellow Patcher Chris]

Received in today’s mail from Aliexpress a Old Boy knockoff lighter, Pipe Lighter 2017. $13.80 including shipping. I ordered it on July 16, so a day less than two weeks in transit. It filled and lit properly. It seems well built and feels substantial in hand. We will see how it holds up. I figured for the price it was worth a flyer.

for 3rd day in a row, nuttin' but some junk mail for da Mrs. She's so overall weak now, seldom opens any, unless it looks personal & no return address. Ye 'old recycle box near full, at least going out tonite. Acutally those plastic grocery bags hold a lot more than what it looks like.
Supposedly, bulk/junk mail keeps the P.O. mostly afloat these days

Heck of an upgrade from the pages of my weekly shopper paper that I formerly used. Top quality and stitching. Flexible and the semi-rough backside grips and keeps it in place whether flat surface or on my lap. A good deal and worth the $12.00 I paid for it at SP Accessories.

I've been back and forth about picking up a leather "mat." For that price, I just might. I use a wooden bowl from Walt most of the time.
I got my box of FVF and tin of Sutliff English #1 today. It was delivered to my dads yesturday, but I was too tired to go out there just to pick up mail.

I did the unthinkable!
I went to P&C and looked up SG. They had boxes of St. James Flake in stock. I added it to my cart and immediately checked out.
Normally I spend an hour on the website looking for other stuff and spend more than I planned to.
Cant really say I have self control since it's ANOTHER tobacco purchase, but I'm proud of myself for not spending an additional $60 just to get "free" shipping.

Some patch folks would think buying at P&C is unthinkable. Thank the good Lord above, I am not one of them. 😁 Good job on the self control...well sort of!!😁

They fouled me a couple of times but I NEEDED some Anni Kake a while back. So I gave them another shot. I have no complaints with any orders from them in several months. And the St. James Flake was only $31 a box. P&C is good, IF you know how to shop with them.

In my excitement I forgot my usual round of PM's. But it seems like there has been an abundance of SG at quite a few places recently.
