it's funny. I've been watching this thing for DAYS, and it's $9.99. Not one other watcher. No other bids. This morning, with 15 mins left, I bid up to $13 just in case. Wouldn't you know it, someone IMMEDIATELY tried to snipe me, and bid 13.50. I fought hard, and won. there's always a sniper. Still, $25 still stands as an awesome price. So, my son used to watch a cartoon called Dora the Explorer and they had a character on there that was a fox and his name was Swiper, and he "swiped" items from Dora. They could stop him by saying, "Swiper, no swiping!" So when I read about this the first thing that came into my mind was wouldn't it be nice if we could stop snipers by saying, "Sniper, no sniping!" LOL

He had his own thinking chair, notebook and talking Blue doll.

I have two tins of Pembroke coming. My order from Aristocob still hasn't shipped, which seems odd because they have almost always shipped within two days. I've sent an email but haven't heard back yet. Hoping all is okay....

I actually wondered if it was a sly jab at the "BS" rules that made them change the name in the first place. There are plenty of other names they could have used, after all! What rules are these? I noticed that this happens a lot. I thought that was a quirk in the pipe community...apparently not...care to enlighten me? There are apparently new rules in the UK that state the name of a flavored blend can no longer refer to the flavor itself. I guess because of all those children buying Top Black Cherry and smoking it in their expensive briars Here's a list of some of the name changes: www.uktobacco.com/blog/index.php/2017/03/tobacco-name-changes/I don think it is an EU directive, because while they put new rules on flavors of cigarettes etc. (e.g. menthols), they explicitly exempt pipe tobaccos and cigars: europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-14-134_en.htm

Thanks @chico. I thought as much. And part of that might be due to zambini's reasoning too. As for Airstocob, Lady Margaret - I think the Markwoods are on a wee holiday at the minute (according to Instagram). They may not be back yet.

I picked up three tins of Solani 656 Burley Flake. I frequently miss out on this one when it is briefly available. Glad to finally secure a few tins. I only had one left. Now I can compare it to the MacBaren HH.

We have the same rules here in Denmark; for instance, they changed the name of Rattray's 'Exotic Orange' to 'Exotic Passion' and TDPS'/Samuel Gawith's ' Brown Sugar Flake' to 'B.S. Flake'. Let's hope it isn't. The most infuriating thing is, that someone, somewhere, is getting paid to come up with drivel like that. From where do they get those utterly tasteless photos on the cigarette packs..? Do a couple of grown-ups play the role as crying parents at a child's coffin..? Extremely disgusting. When do we get to see pictures of deceased livers in vivid colours, on the liquor bottles..?

I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time.

I don't want to speak on their behalf, but if it was me, I would get the orders out first (cos that's priority), get the confirmation emails sent, and then wade through the other emails and respond. They may get back to you, or they may consider the shipping email their response to your other one. Either way, your order is on its way. Good to hear!

Soon enough it will be illegal to smile while smoking because it gives the impression you are enjoying yourself.

Or pictures of immobile obese people on junk food wrappers, burnt bodies on lighters and matches, mangled bodies on new cars.... The list is endless, and they all point out the idiocy of over-regulation. Then again, I'm all for it on cigarette packs because very young people often do smoke them, and their access should be restricted as much as possible. Sure, there's always a way for an enterprising young juvenile delinquent to get cigarettes, but making it as unpleasant and difficult as possible might help at least some. Nothing more depressing than seeing a 12-year-old trying to act tough with a cigarette. Anyway, maybe it an EU-wide rule after all. Though I doubt the UK is going to go any softer on tobacco of any kind after Brexit. Some of their rules went beyond EU ones already.

Officially in the mail: Savory's Mayfield estate pot Willard estate pot Kaywoodie standard squat bulldog estate One NASTY looking Dr. Grabow Poker
Not in the mail: No tobacco has been bought recently. I have at least 50 blends I've bought in the last 3-4 months, 3/4 are 1oz bulk testers. So, I've put the kibosh on my tobacco spending until next month. Hopefully, I can figure what I want to buy more of, and what else sounds appealing.

I got a notice from Iwan Ries & Co. that some Margate had come in last week. They also had some Dunhill Dark Flake in stock as well as a sale on St. Bruno.

Not really in the mail, but earlier in the day I perused the local online classifieds and ran across these two pipes. The Gentleman selling them said that he picked them up while in the Navy in the early 80's. He has never smoked a pipe, never had the desire to, but decided that it was time to part ways. They have push pull tenons, so I would have to say that they were probably made just before he acquired them. The cases have a sticker that says: Meerschaum Koncak, Eskiehir Turkey. He was asking $40.00 for both but agreed to take $35.
