Greets & hope all had a nice weekend, mine "normal". Full walks done, CAO Black 5x48 for company. After the Ed is fed, BB1938 in Cavvichi CC bent dublin freehand, contine with the papers. Wait for call back from mechanic place about dashboard light on, something about brakes system. No idea what happens ahead. 60, clear, to 76, good chance of rain whenever Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since ??62 Hope it turns out to be nothing much, Ed.

Think I've learned something about ye olde ayr puryfyer. On its highest setting, it moves more air through the filter, yes, but it doesn't filter it as well. I think max effectiveness may be setting 2 rather than 3. It's like when you put the lawnmower in 3rd gear to get it done fast, but it's moving too fast to cut the grass well and you just have to go back over what you've already mowed. Absolutely that is the case for the HEPA filters. The best recommendation I can offer for real deal smell particle air filtration is that you do what weed growers do. It's much cheaper than the $700-999 HEPA filters and better. You buy a $100~ inline charcoal can filter. They look like long metal perforated mesh tubes that are completely packed full of activated charcoal. Then you buy an approximately $100-150 inline very high CFM can fan for horticulture as well. Get one that can move at least 600 CFM (Cubic feet per minute) and simply setup that sucker nearby where you're smoking and make sure you have your intake and exhaust room pressure how you like it. You'll feel it create a bit of a vacuum in the entire room when you have the CFM right and every bit of smoke will then pass through the activated charcoal. There will be zero smoke smell. Interesting. What kind of noise level are we talking about?

Had more Three Friars in the Southport Ferryman while on a routine trip to the vet with one of the dogs. Had dinner when we got home. Now, Haunted Bookshop in the same.

Interesting. What kind of noise level are we talking about? Somewhat depends on price level of inline fan bought. They make models that are very quiet compared to a $1k in home HEPA we used to run. Plus depending on how you strap it up to your wall or door frame or wherever, you could have the fan mounted in another room and a length of 6" or 8" duct exhausting from your smoking room.

Vouching for charcoal filters. You'd never know my old friend grew "tomatoes" in his upstairs bedrooms... and they were very RIPE at times!
Finishing off some 5100 from late last night. It's been a day.

Sterling's Bargain Blend all day, first in a Prince of Wales brandy, with coffee. Then in a small pot, marked Hickok, and now in a Mastro da' paja Dublin.

Hm, mounting fans and ducting to walls or doors would be just a wee bit of a giveaway when property maintenance people are in my apartment. I thought you were describing a simple filter can with a fan on top of it that would just stand on a table or desk or whatever, pulling air through the filter and out the top. Also, my room is not closed off from the rest of the apartment. There's a doorway, not a door. So we're not talking about a relatively sealed space, like a grow tent.

They can be used in so many ways and wouldn't have to be mounted. A filter could technically sit right on the ground nearby and have a fan mounted on it simply sucking air at highspeed through the charcoal.
