Thanks! Amazingly, Erik stamped this one as only grade C. 🤷‍♂️ His grades go from A down to D. Funny. Some Danish Pipemakers go the other way with A being the lowest grade. I'm a fiend for birdseye. Of course I guess his grade C might be someone else's best grade. I’ve noticed that Erik does not grade only on grain. He also appears to take into consideration shaping. However, I don’t see anything off about the shaping on this one. I have one of his ungraded oval shank Apples. The seller had told me that it was ungraded due to a shaping error. It took me a while to find the error. Where the oval shank transitions to the bowl, the oval is asymmetric and thicker on one side than the other. |

Some Wessex Gold Virginia in my failed ALI meerschaum poker. Three years of weekly smoking and regular waxing and no coloration at all. I have tested it and it is block meerschaum. It smokes well, just won't color.
