I'm sure these fine humans were the cream of the crop ... and D.C. is a great place to learn respect and good decision making, right??

My internet is going up and down like a pogo stick. About every 5 minutes, it craters. Xfinity says there's no problem in my area. Clearly, they are wrong. Could it be your router? It can't be ruled out. I just bought it earlier this year, though, so I would hope it's got a lot of miles left in it. I've got a service call scheduled for Thursday.

It cratered again tonight for an hour. Then it worked for an hour and cratered again for a few minutes. I cancelled that service call and scheduled a new one to hook up to a new ISP. I'm an IT guy who works from home 3 days a week. I need my dang internet to work.

Long overdue for Social Security recipients, if you are one it might be worth the 10 minutes, and badger your representatives to do the right thing.

Thanks, Charlie.
It just came back online. We'll see if it lasts. If tonight is like the last 2, it will continue dropping and reconnecting all evening.

I've been trying to schedule a service cancellation with Xfinity. Unfortunately, they engage in the shady business practice of not allowing you to cancel service online. You have to let them call you and run you through a sales pitch, and only if you have sufficient patience to endure that nonsense will they let you leave.
Anything you can sign up for online, you ought to be able to cancel online at the same site. That oughta be a law.

Quite a day…. Durango Colorado, on to Silverton, then Ouray… it would have been kind of cool to go to Telluride, but it has suffered the same fate as Vail and Aspen. Both once nice towns, but the big money moved in, along with that the snobiness and those that want to achieve that status.
Silverton and Ouray are the real deal, the people in Durango are pretty cool. The highway from Silverton to Ouray has spectacular scenery, but there are 8% grades, 155 turns, many hairpin and no guardrails if you are headed north… the bottomless canyons are spooky to think about.
I have pulled a lot of serious grades in my duties hauling 80,000# gross.
Most of the heavy loads were done in days of my yute… no Jake Brake/ exhaust brake, just using the gearbox and brakes to control my downhill speed. I can just say that I am glad that this was not part of my runs back in the day.

Driving an Autocar tractor truck with a gasoline engine, Brownie-Spicer transmissions. Hauling logs. Down shifting on grades took skill. I did not do that for long. Yes, those old mountain towns have changed with the influx of wealthy people with attitudes of superiority and entitlement. This is happening in Taos today. Sad to see it happen.

Soon there won’t be any room in grassroots America for grassroots people. That’s why I tell everyone how terrible it is to live where I do. Monsoons, rabid animals, cannibals. It’s awful.

Wife has been on me to sell the farm, go to surburbs, no thank you, went to one with her, 5 ft between houses, basketball goals in front of some houses, KIDS, raised mine got enough. Gonna croak on my porch smoking a stogie overlooking where I played as a small boy, 2 houses on 81 acres is enough for me. I GARRONTE!

I've spent all day dealing with technology, and not the kind I get paid for dealing with. AT&T was here to hook me up to their internet. I've still got a lot of work to do to get all my various devices switched from one network to the other -- Alexa devices, smart LED bulbs and the like.
I also switched to them for my wireless. Getting Xfinity to transfer it was a tremendous pain in the hinder. I will not miss those guys. AT&T may be no better, I don't know, but they can hardly be worse.

One of the last narrow gauge RR's in existence in this country ... incredibly scenic ride. 👍😎 Yes, along with the Cumbres & Toltec RR that shares the other half of the former D&RGW with the Durango & Silverton. The last 3 ft. gauge railroad in the East is the East Broadtop RR in PA and there's the 2 ft. gauge Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum in Maine.

It is way more crowded, commercial and expensive than back then. A ton of people with money moved in from out of state and drove up property values around the outskirts of town. I don’t like it near as much any more. I guess I can say that for a lot of the mountain towns I used to love. Cripple Creek, Breckenridge, Central City, and others are now too big and too commercial. Sigh…

The problem that we have here in "agriburbia" is with small farms being sold by families who can't, or aren't willing to, keep the farm going any longer. Part of the corn field down the road was sold off by the owners and is now a condo community. The remaining part of the adjacent field has been cleared, so I guess that'll be "developed" as well. This isn't the same as having wealthy people from out of state come in and buy up land for building their huge houses, but the character of the area is changing and that's the same.

Will be a Golf Nomad again starting next Sunday. First stop Seoul and finishing either Singapore or Bali around March-Apl 24 (assuming I don’t run out of fund’s first). Will most likely be off the grid but will try to drop in on occasion. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and everything else in between. 👍👋👋
