Last month travelling in Utah, I experienced Scheels for the first time in Draper. I was impressed by the knowledge of those that worked in their respective departments, and a genuine friendliness that is rare in retail.
I went early today for the grand opening in Chandler, Az., waited in line and the crowd was manageable when I got there, the same genuineness was there (but a lot of the Utah staff is there for the opening). A fellow in line behind me that is a reloader grinned and told me that he was able to get powders he hasn't seen locally for 3 years. I was hoping for some awesome "giveaway" prices for the grand opening, not to be had...but I still spent $200, on ammo...(low on .38 special).
It was a madhouse by the time that I left, I think that going forward they will be a great asset to the firearms community, and the fact that they are employee owned, all of the workers have skin in the game.
Everything from watersports, golf, baseball, football, archery, fishing, shooting, camping, outdoor games, indoor games (foosball, pool, darts, legos, etc...)
Good times, look forward to going there when the newness wears off for others.

Urgent Care clinics are good for stitching a wound, treating a mild infection and not much else. My wife went to an ER on a Friday with excruciating pain to the knee, 6 hours later a doctor finally saw her...all of 45 seconds of his time, he ordered her a set of crutches never touching her leg and told her to arrange to see a specialist in the coming week. No medicine for pain, it costed us $600.00 out of pocket for the doctors' fees. By Sunday, my wife (that has a high tolerance for pain) could no longer stand it and we went to urgent care, my wife explained to the doctor on duty what took place at the ER. The doctor told us that he was in semi-retirement, but he had worked the ER for many years, and to him he suspected my wife had a torn meniscus, he apologized that working an urgent care facility he could not dispense the strength of medicine that he could if he was working in an ER, the law forbade him to do so. He said that it was ridiculous that the ER doctor did not write a script. He wrote a script for an MRI and set her up an appointment the next day, the MRI diagnosis: Torn meniscus/sprained ACL. So even though her situation should have been better to be seen at an ER, the system failed her miserably with a doctor that was really a joke...the urgent care doctor was compassionate and had concern for his patient. With the benefit of hindsight, the ER was a waste except that the hospital and doctor received a nice chunk of change...I cannot recall the insurance company's part but it was ridiculous. Obviously, with a serious issue of an internal nature, best hotfoot it to the ER. Sorry to hear about this. Glad yall got through the vacation OK.

On to a different topic.
Mu High School Squeeze is coming to town. After 50+ years we will meet again. We have been in touch on line since 2005 but have not met since she lives in Oakland, CA and I in northern NM. She looks about the same but older. I was quite fond of her back in 1969 to 1971. She dumped me, of course, back then for someone "groovier" but that is what young women do. So, the only regret is that I did not look her up years ago. Turns out she was quite the Ducati rider. Me, I was a Norton man. We could have made some great sounds together on our 750cc twins and had some good rides. She is and was a strong willed, tough little gal, well suited on a fast motor dressed in full leathers. While I have no expectations other then the fun of seeing her again, I am happy our relationship has come around and we are meeting again. She loves Taos and was here in the 1960s before I knew her in HS. One of the Magic Bus Veterans from that era. Should be fun. I am looking forward to seeing her again. We had some interesting experiences during our time together. Between the war in Viet Nam and the Hippies culture, I lost many friends from that time.

She sounds like a pistol. I'd say my h.s. squeeze had little in common with yours, but she did break my heart. She wanted to be a songwriter. Ended up in a one-hit wonder country band and then . . . I don't know where she went or what she did from there. As for my day, I spent part of the afternoon helping my new neighbor move some furniture around, then watched the Dodgers whomp the Giants in the final game of the regular season. On to the playoffs!

For an old man like me who has almost no contact with people other than complaining irrigators, this is a big thrill.

Okay, so here's my complaint for the day. One of my hearing aid's tiny sound transmission tubes pulled out of the earpiece microphone. Since my hearing aids are provided by the VA, I need to send it to the repair dept. in a pre-addressed, postage-free shipping box that's being sent to me. Still waiting for the box. I've gone through this before and the total turnaround time is about a month. Could you speak up, please? lol

Russ I feel for you, nowadays the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing, being a vet USAA just double billed me on my car insurance, paid it Sept 21, Sept 27 they billed me again, what was bad it went out my bank account, every morning I check it, they almost drained my bank account, I was not happy. Russ I hope they respond sooner.

Just spent an hour on the phone with the VA going over more ridiculous stuff. I’m finding they’re getting better adding more layers of needless bureaucracy making the most basic thing tens times more complicated. Someone explain to me why I need an Intake Worker, a Resource Coordinator and a Case Manager just to accomplish one task? I’d love to see an organization chart or chain of command (assuming one even exists). Good grief….. On the bright side, eleven more days until I’m wheels up again.

Still busy tending the gardens and yard these days. But, I am making a little workshop time this evening. My brother-in-law picked up a fairly large Canadian recently. Turns out the tenon had a pretty serious crack, which resulted in a complete break. I'm going to restem the pipe tonight. Pics to follow.

I go to a local ENT Clinic to see an audiologist and techs for tests, regular maintenance, and basic repair. They’ve told me that next spring my three year warranty ends but they can send them in for a factory refurb and then I get another three years of warranty. I am really not looking forward to being without them. I may be able to do one at a time, but it’s really weird sounding to use only one and only my right one Bluetooths to my phone for calls and sends the sound to the left.
