I was interested to see that the article said S&W revolvers “did not hold up” to their rigorous shooting schedule. They don’t specify WHICH S&W didn’t hold up. But I am going to hazard a guess: the 66, or any other 357 on a K-frame. The Border Patrol and many other US agencies figured that out a long time ago. Thus, the L-frame, which I feel safe in assuming the French did not test. Don't know, but 250k shots of 357 is a lot for any double action revolver.

Walmart carries the Diamond Greenlight wooden matches. In packs of 10 at about $1.10. I laid in a bunch of these. I have a box of those. They aren't anything like the Diamond matches of our childhoods. Much harder to light and I can't light one on my zipper for the life of me. Government safety regulations to thank because you know how dangerous those old matches were. I made acomplaint to Diamond about their matches igniteability. I was told that the EPA and the State of California made them change to a non-sulpher formula, an air "quality' improvement.

A lot for ANY gun. If I figured correctly, it’s 100 shots a week for 48 years.

Eli went bonkers at the window this morning. I checked and saw a bobcat taking a leisurely saunter through the back yard.

Never had one around the house here.
Seen them in the mountain area. They are always curious and sit and watch me. I never felt a threat.
If I did not have house cats and one visited, I might be tempted to put out food and water and "adopt" one. I could enjoy having one hang around at a distance.

Well, Mom's in the hospital. Severe nausea that started over the weekend and wouldn't stop. They don't know what it is, yet, other than that it's not viral and her white blood cell count is way high. They've got her on anti-nausea drugs and antibiotics, and doing lots of bloodwork. She's able to eat a little now. There's a chance it may be hepatitis.

My BIL had a stuffed one on his mantle for many years. Only shot it because it kept killing my sister's mini dachshunds. Seen a bunch of flat ones on the highways, always hate to see it. They do belong here and they're part of the local ecosystem.

She was waiting patiently by the truck. Then it occured to me; it is night, I am in the woods with an injured bobcat. This is not going to turn out well. So, I got back to the truck and left the scene. As Fredo Corelone once remarked to his brother, "I'm smaaart".

On the most recent Country Squire podcast, JD said that Jerry Clower lived in Jackson Ms. and was close friends of the Reeves (founders of CS), and he used to hang out there quite often.
That would be a nice fit for a smoking lounge to have a gifted comedian/ storyteller around while having a smoke.

checking in and showing off my new head gear. I have always loved berets. I had about 4 or 5 in college, in colors that would match just about any outfit.

You would have to do a lot of stupid stuff for it to hurt you.

Rabies disrupts a critter’s normal cautionary responses. Any wild animal being “too familiar” is suspicious and needs to be avoided and maybe even destroyed.

My niece and I trapped a feral cat around 58. I was 7 and she was 8. We caught it in a box trap that we were trying to trap a bird. She went to get it out and it bit and clawed her badly. She had to get the shots in her stomach. I think I cried, but I know that she did.

Big mean ferals can really disrupt a neighborhood.
