Copied from a Facebook post, I couldn’t agree more. DEAR HOME DEPOT AND ALL OTHER STORES THAT HAVE SELF CHECKOUT! You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I was at Walmart , the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone. I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying "umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store. You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be. • I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you. • If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine. • Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities. YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING. YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU. I agree in principle. However, society and the news has taught me that even just using the self-check, at Walmart specifically, is a risky thing to do. I've read too many stories about folks minding their own business and getting falsely accused of, charged with, and prosecuted for shoplifting when some rent a cop was watching the security recordings and THOUGHT they saw something not scanned that ended up being an inventory item the store was short of. Sad world we live in when someone can be charged with a crime and has to pay the legal fees even after showing the receipt proving they didn't commit said crime, but that is the world we live in.

Still alive and kicking! Usually my absence is because I'm in a bad head space. Not this time. Business took off like crazy. I got hooked up with one of the big real estate agency's here and they send me TONS of work. Another lady is from Tennessee and owns about a dozen rental properties here. Shes fixing them up 1 by 1, and guess who got ALL of that work? Add that to my own clients/customers, referrals from them, Facebook, and even some referrals from old bosses, and I'm just swamped. I've reached the point where I had to make a decision. Hire some help, or cut out some of the work. Hiring someone isn't an option for me, so I raised my prices. That didn't work. I tell people I'm at least 2 months out, which I am, and that didn't work. So I just stack it up and tell them it's going to be a while. I contact the "waiters" once a week and give them an update on my time frame, and they're all happy. Now, on bigger jobs I take a few days off every 2 weeks to knock out the small ones. It's working so far. And I'm not killing myself with crazy long days. But doing the labor, the book keeping, the secretary work, the estimates, and everything, plus dealing with the divorce, eats up most of my time. Honesty, communication, and quality have got me a long way. It's worked out though. I havent missed 1 appointment for the kids, for the first time, in a very long time, Im not stressing about bills, and even with everything going on, I'm in a great place mentally. Court is Tuesday, so that mental state is either going to drastically improve, or tank. Id have a better idea of what to expect if my lawyer actually communicated with me. Tuesday could very well be the last time he gets anymore billable hours from me. I hope everyone is well. It's finally time for a pipe, it's been a while. Great to hear from you Josh! Glad to hear you're doing good, and those kiddos are looking GREAT too.

A good day. We have had so much rain — untypical — that the vegetation had gotten ahead of me. I’ve been doing what I could every day that was dry enough. Today was most pleasant: sunny, 80°. I got a humongous amount of mowing done and feeling pretty happy about it. A couple more days and I will be completely caught up. This has been a strange spring. We are semi-arid normally, and for the last decade and more fully arid in the summer. This spring is making farmers and ranchers almost giddy with happiness.

We got 7/10 inch of needed rain yesterday. About to get more I think. I'm going to have to make up some mowing this week.

Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL) Repairs and upgrades Navy aircraft. Naval Flight Officer (NFO) Operates the mission equipment, radar, electronic countermeasures, weapon control computers, eavesdropping, etc. He tests the electronic installations and upgrades. He is very good at it. He also flies jets and helicopters. So, smarter than just a pilot. The Navy put his name on the plane and he has the call sign, Bunson. Edit: My wife just mentioned that he trained at the Top Gun school and is a fighter pilot as well. Masters degrees in Electrical and Mechanical engineering.

Getting my garage door fixed after dealing with a slight malfunction. It appears the latch that’s screwed onto the door failed.

Getting my garage door fixed after dealing with a slight malfunction. It appears the latch that’s screwed onto the door failed. You bring back bad memories, Ted! I once pushed the power to close my door, forgot that my 8 foot ladder was propped against a ceiling rack, as the door went up it was completely destroyed. That was no fun, and an expensive mistake I made.

Not bad considering the garage door is 25 years old.

Yeah… it sucked. As I watched my door being crumpled into scrap it was one of them “Am I seeing what I think I am seeing” scenarios.
Bummer day.
