In a Pewter mug, a punch of whiskey and apple cider. Heated the Sydney Carton way. With a red hot iron poker draw from the fire!

What chapter? ๐ค๐ Easier to recall the movie from 1935 with Ronald Coleman playing Sydney Carton. The hot poker regularly heats the punch.

I love AToTC. For me, the colorful Jerry Cruncher character more than makes up for the much overwrought Lucie character. Everything else is pretty great.

A little TX Whiskey on the rocks with a bit of water.
I've been drinking more bourbon than blends lately, but this sure is tasty tonight.

No sure what's in the glass. It was going to be a Boulevardier - 1 1/2 oz Rye whiskey, 1 oz Sweet vermouth, 1 oz Campari. Added the Rye and sweet vermouth, then found I was out of Campari. So, I'm drinking it as is.

That looks interesting. I don't know what a "toasted" porter is. Does that refer to the state you're in after you've had a few?

"With notes of coffee and dark chocolate, this Porter is roasty and rich, with a robust, yet smooth body. Toasted malts give it a sinister black color, but its crisp taste will have you believing that thereโs no more need to be afraid of the dark. Lager malt, munich malt, chocolate malt, bavarian hops, with the slight addition of authentic icelandic roasted coffee." I think I would like to try it.

Ice bruises whiskey and should be avoided. I only put ice in mixed drinks. Never in straight whiskey, Scotch, rum or tequila. I would put it in cheap shite if that is all I could get. I actually like the stronger whiskey on the rocks. I think to each their own.

I think to each their own. I will put ice in cheaper bourbon or higher proof whiskey. In my opinion, sipping whiskey should be around 90 proof.

Only time I use ice is in a cocktail. If I'm drinking whiskey, it's neat. Some of my favorites are in the 110-115 proof range.
