Well aged leftover chicken in gravy over rice. The rest is going to the dog. Did you age it in the fridge or in a barrel? Chicken Perique sounds good, doesn't it? 😁

K.F.C. tonight...a few weeks ago, it was really good, but tonight's trip yielded something that could have been chicken perique. I don't know how the oldest fried chicken chain got so incompetent. Every other chain does great, same experience every time whether it's Popeyes or Churches or Golden Chick. Our first inkling that something was wrong was in the early 70s when we went to a KFC after church and they were out of chicken. Twice. Never a good experience in the last 50 years.

Franchise owners who cannot make the grade. Seen that too many times over the decades. I recall being served chicken that was still frozen and raw inside. So, when I came upon the KFC in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, a store staffed only by elderly ladies, I knew I was in the Colonel's Place. Those old gals knew what fried chicken means. It was superb. PS. The biscuits were from that other world, the one on high where The Roll is called.

I almost bought a box of Cherios when last in a store. I recall them fondly from my youth. Are they as good as sever or has modern management crippled yet another product we know and love?
