No breakfast owing to a sonogram of my gall bladder this morning. While in Taos, stopped at Ricky's Diner. Pork Chops in Adovada. Man, that was picante! Perspiration breaking on my forehead. So good. Their Spanish Rice is the best I have had in a while. Another great spot in the town of Taos.

Grilled chicken breast and Mozzarella sandwich, w/pesto/mayo/tomato /lettuce on Croissant. Charles Chips on the side. Had this again. Equal amounts of pesto and mayo really work well. Assemble the sandwich and put it under the grill feature on the air fryer, melts the cheese, slightly toasts the croissant, and it is incredibly good. From an issue of the Costco cookbook, they used to give out every Christmas.

I did not know about clinking glasses, but I will investigate To raise a glass (with wine, water, beer etc) or clink it is A MUST here in Greece because is an ancient Greek custom.
You raise it in a restaurant or in a business meal or in an official event saying wishes (health, happy life, prosperity, good contacts etc) to honour the hoster, as you raise it you look every person in the eye moving your head downwards as a gesture of politeness.
Glass clinking. After all the preparations are over, the food is served, everybody has bread-wine-napkin etc you clink your glass in a tavern or in your house with ALL the persons (one by one) that you can reach, then you may raise a bit from your seat to extend your hand to reach more people and for those who are far away you have 2 choices: raise from your chair and approach them (if it's a grandfather-grandmother) or do eye contact and saying wishes smiling. Some times the hoster gives the sign and when everybody are ready the clinking starts, you MUST NOT drink before you raise or clink your glass.
If you do it it's a sign of bad manners, disrespect and everybody will blame you for bad parenting. But what happens when you are alone in your house? Then you raise your glass in front of you saying a wish (for you, for the future, for a lost person that you are missing etc) or you clink it with the bottle.
There are 3 ways to clink a glass with a glass: 1) main body with main body (the most common) and gently.
2) you turn your glass and with the bottom you touch the main body of the other's guy glass, this is a macho style, a bravado gesture for Underworld people that you must avoid to do 3) with the bottom of your glass you hit the upper part of the other guy's glass and that's the certainest way for a fight to start, it's an insult and few year back the result would be catastrophic (punch, stab, shot etc). You can brake a glass (after you drink all the content) in the floor but you shouldn't do it because 1) you will pay it 2) the store owner will throw you out 3) you can injure a bystander and a quarrel will start. Yes here in old times we (as Locals only) brake some glasses but only in certain circumstance and only in specific places. Plus in the old times we were breaking (empty only) dishes but in certain circumstance and places, forget what the Hollywood movies show about this (throwing dishes in the fireplace).

Thank you, sidstavros now I can avoid being the “Ugly American”….well, I may already be ugly, but I don’t need to act that way. 😉 Seriously, it is nice to know the customs and practices when traveling, I have one brother that worked for the state department, another that is a Marine that had embassy assignments. In both instances, they had mentors or training of local customs in the countries that they were sent to perform duties. Simple things like being handed a business card and stuffing it into your wallet in Japan is very offensive. Graciously accepting it, reading it and thanking the person offering their card shows them due respect. I suppose that with the advent of the internet, one can avail themselves of proper decorum and respect of local customs on international travel. Sadly, most recently an American politician was a national embarrassment as the person was grossly ignorant on how to conduct oneself, or thought to export what an “Ugly American” is all about.

My son sent us an E-giftcard to a Foodtruck that was at the Gilbert Az. Farmers market...outside my comfort zone as I enjoy my days off under air conditioning. It all worked out, we got cloud cover, got the bacon and egg waffle sandwich, the wife got a waffle with strawberries and cream. No lunch required after that.https://wafflelove.com/ wafflelove.com/

Hey I had a grilled cheese sandwich, cracked a bunch of roasted peanuts and ate some Oreo's the other day for a meal. On the scale of weirdness, you are lacking.

I suppose that with the advent of the internet, one can avail themselves of proper decorum and respect of local customs on international travel. Sadly, most recently an American politician was a national embarrassment as the person was grossly ignorant on how to conduct oneself, or thought to export what an “Ugly American” is all about.
An example: In Middle East countries the authorities have forbidden the US Army members to eat-drink inside their car while travelling to work-back home due to the Ramazan (Ramadan) period because the other see them and feel insulted, crazy but it's real.
Till the end of the 70's era the US embassy here in Athens had no fence at all ! People were walking freely in front of the embassy, mothers with childs etc because there was no danger for the US members. Now the embassy is like fortress with policemen-security guards-patrol cars-cameras-multiple checking point-restricted roads around the building etc. Why? that it's not Greek people fault, back in 60's and 70's he had American actors in our movies-commercials or Greeks that played the American guy (which was a guy with a cigar, a havanese look shirt always smiling or shouting loud and with a big car) but now some US politicians made USA as ''hostile country" creating wars in other nations. Keep in mind that Southerners are very popular here, we had and still have their flag waving in many occasions.
