NOT trying to be political. Just wondering who else has lost access to family over vaccination status, either way.
I haven't been allowed to visit a family member, due to differences on vaccine status. I'm not making a stand either way, just thought I would open a discussion for those of us who can visit family.

No not really.
My wife chose to get the vaccine as she has health issues, I do not so I did not.
I made a commitment when I had LASIK surgery, it had risks… miniscuoe by my standards, not so much for others in regards to risks involved. Glad to share my positive results, but I did not want my results to influence anyone else, and told them that it is a personal decision that they alone had to make.
Same with the vaccine, individual decisions should be made by individual adults…
I harbor no ill will towards those that were inoculated, I know of some that died from Covid that were pre-inoculation, I know of some that are gone post inoculation.
No magic answer, it is a bad virus that that each has to make their own decision on.
Sucks, because I would like to take a trip to Ireland, a trip long promised to the wife, but I am not going to get a shot. I had the virus, figure I have the antibodies.

I don't contact extended family very often, Im the black sheep and I like it that way. But, I have a cousin that was pretty crazy about the vaccine. Maybe not crazy, but definitely extra cautious. Her and her husband wouldn't even let her parents (my aunt an uncle, obviously) visit them unless they quarantined for 14 days prior to their visit.
This virus, recent politics, and things that have went on in this country have really separated people. If you really think about it, the last few years have been incredibly strange.
COVID kicked my butt last year. That's a feeling I'll never forget.
Live, and let live.

I haven't had any issues, but I'm not around any family since before the pandemic. Been visited by a few friends that were vaccinated, and we were too. I'm for whatever people want to do. A lot of my friends lost parents and a sister before the vaccine was available. Several vaccinated family members have had Covid-19 since the beginning of last year. Some of them were vaccinated and some were not. They all recovered fine.

I honestly do not think it is anything about vacc or not being political.
I think some have framed it that way, so it is perceived as being so, but I think it is all about individual choices based on personal situation.
I do not have underlying health issues, so I do not think it is necessary. I fully support my wife’s decision to get vaccinated.
I work in healthcare, if the company required me to get vaccinated I would walk, if they did I would respect their decision, but I have options and could move on.

Just finishing my second bout of COVID, I'm glad my parents are fully vaccinated as they caught it as well. Luckily, my son didn't catch it, I'd have felt terrible if his mother or I had passed it on to him.

The world has become a strange place. I never imagined for a moment I would hear that someone was thankful that someone else was fully vaccinated before catching the disease they were vaccinated for.
“Mommy, I’m glad my brother was vaccinated for polio/smallpox/measles/any disease there were vaccines for prior to Covid before he caught it” said no one, ever.
Sorry, I’ll leave now.

“Mommy, I’m glad my brother was vaccinated for polio/smallpox/measles/any disease there were vaccines for prior to Covid before he caught it” said no one, ever. Sorry, I’ll leave now. To be fair, in the first generation of these vaccines, when the disease had not yet been eliminated from the general population, one can assume this was actually said a lot as infected family members recovered quicker from dramatically less severe illnesses. The fact that these diseases were all but eliminated in most developed nations but are now making comebacks as vaccination rates fall might just give that opportunity again.

Remember when the Polio Vacine came out Hot Damn, had to get all the shots to go to school, same with my kids, reoccurrence of the old diseases such as measles would leave a common sense person to wonder if the new enlightened generation are just damn stupid, saying this my oldest Son won’t get the Vacine, , he rarely visits but I wouldn’t tell him no, I’ve lived too long as it is.

I got mine in April 21 and the booster the following November and still got covid to start off 22. It wasn't bad and I still had customers insist that I come out if I felt OK and they would clear everyone out while I was there. My sister and son are firmly against the shot but only my son has told me I was stupid for getting it. I had to remind him that I have a minor heart issue and if I got it it could possibly kill me. I still think that when we took a trip to NYC the week before Christmas in 19 that we got it before they knew what it was. We were all sick over Christmas and Kim was real bad. She was tested for different things and was told that she had something and they didn't know what.
The biggest shot that gets me every time is the flu shot. I got it four times and every time I got the flu. My doc offered it to me the last time I got one and I told him I got the flu every time I got the shot and he told me it was impossible. Two months later I show up and he told me I had the flu. I reminded him that I got the shot and he said it was impossible the get the flu. He said that visit was on him.

This reminds me, I still need to get my Shingles shot. That 2 part shot is rough. I am sure it's worth it, but don't have any immediate activities planned. Y'all OK with all the flooding?

This new mDNA vaccine is experimental. It's new technology and completely different from the old vaccines that we grew up with. As a kid, I saw on the news every day other kids in iron lungs which gave me nightmares for years. Everyone in my elementary school couldn't wait to get the vaccine. When the oral vaccine came out I was proud to be there with my mom to help distribute it. I put the drops on the sugar cubes until I had a tray full and walked down the line where each person picked up and ate their dose. 60+ years later people have had problems from those vaccines, but never to the point that anyone wondered if it was worth it. The new vaccines, especially the Pfizer are recording side effects and deaths. They were rushed into production and not tested for years like the previous vaccines. So I totally respect anyone who refuses to get that shot. At my age I figured I had more to lose by not getting it. But if I was under 60, I probably would have refused it too. We've both had a lot of brain fog since we got the first shot, but we haven't had Covid. The possible long term effects of these new vaccines are unknown, but I expect a lot more bad news to come out. I believe that most people involved were doing what they thought was best for everyone. Nothing political, it is what it is.

So far have avoided the flooding. Home is on higher ground and area is on higher ground, not near the rivers. Unfortunately a lot of folks in lower areas hit.

If you are a woman of child bearing years, you need to have your head examined if you take the shot.

I have not gotten the vaccine , but have had no issues around any family. They visit semi often and I am at their various houses during holidays. We have never really discussed our health history or private medical records with each other in regards to any disease, so I guess we didn't see a reason to start now. I am just glad if they want the shots they have access to them.
I did have a cousin who asked me to wear a mask once over the summer when I was picking up something from her house , but she was 8.5 months pregnant and I think asking everyone. I dont know if she would have refused me if I had said no, but I also dont argue with pregnant women on things. Doing so can actually be bad for your health!

That's something that no decent person would ever do. Or sane person. Of course that leaves half the population.

We are still talking about vaccines right?!? 🤣🤣 (kidding) Not arguing with a pregnant woman is a valuable life lesson that should be taught early. If the vaccine causes fertility issues, I should get jabbed daily!

We will see. I know from personal experience all 4 of my daughters got fkd up with "issues" (that I won't go into) for months. Antidotal but.... It's so hard to get actual data. The CDC is horrible. WHO? lol. The best info came out of South Africa, Israel and the UK. US data was hot garbage. We will see the repercussions over the long term, if any.

Regardless of anything else, I've gotten to the point after the last few years where I'd just rather not deal with talking to anyone at all, about anything at all, period. Does this count? F*** society.
I mean this somewhat in jest but also mostly in a way like I feel like a grumpy old man in my 30's.

In answer to the original question, no. The only ones in my family that got vaccinated. Were the boys in the military who had no choice. My wife’s family were pretty concerned about it for a while, and they got fully vaccinated. But I hadn’t visited them in years at that time, so it wasn’t an issue.
