We have both gas and electric cooktops. We've never turned on the electric even once. We have it covered with an induction hot plate on top. We prefer induction to everything else, but we use the gas every day. I would like to replace the electric cooktop with induction and change the gas to a 2 burner unit.

I've always preferred gas over electric but currently have no gas at the house.

I have a nearly new condition 1958 Tappan natural gas stove in an all original 1953 kitchen that I restored. I love the stove and the oven is one of the most consistent, best baking ones I’ve ever had.

Have any of you used an induction cooktop? No extra heat as it heats the pan directly, and the heat control is instant. Boils water in less than half the time of either gas or electric. (When I say electric I mean glowing coils)

We have a gas cooktop, bought wife an induction one single unit for summer, does very well. Wife has only one complaint, on the low setting it tends to get too hot right in the middle, other than that she likes it.

We currently have a decent quality gas(propane) range. I got used to them when working in restaurants and prefer them to electric. I also like that when we have lose power at the house, I can still light it with a match. However, I have rebuilt ours once already and there are enough issues with this unit that it might not be practical to rebuild again.
We switched our hot water heater from propane to wood pellet a few years ago (along with switching switching the boiler from #2 oil to wood pellets), so the range is the last thing on gas. It would be nice to drop propane delivery all together, so my wife and I are debating switching to an electric unit.

Prefer LPG cooktops but cannot afford the gas anymore. It was 75 cents when I arrived here. Now over $3.50. So, electric cooking with all the limitations that involves. I would buy an Induction cooker if I could afford one. I have considered a wood kitchen stove but now everyone wants a huge price for the old stoves.

Our induction hot plate is really good and heats evenly. We had a range at the old house that we really miss. Will upgrade the electric cooktop soon. I hope.

My folks have always had gas stoves, ovens, water heaters, and central heat. They love it. They do tend to accumulate house guests during extended power outages in the winter, though.

Only the fireplace and the water heater are plumbed for gas, we never use the fireplace, as it is horribly inefficient and cost prohibitive. I would rather cook on gas, but too cheap to do the conversion.
We are content with our electric stove.

My gas range is about 12 feet. If I eat Mexican, it could increase to about 15 feet.

What brands of induction hot plates are recommended? I'll look at the brand of ours when we get back home. I did a lot of research before I bought it. We've had it for a looong time. And the Frigidaire induction cooktops are the best.

Bob we’ve got the Duxtop, wife likes it, but she says cooking on the lowest setting the middle of the pan get hot, other than that, heats up fast, doesn’t put out heat in the kitchen and really a nice tool, pans have to be magnetic. It’s a one burner portable !

We had a gas hob in our last place. We loved it. We wanted one in the manse, but because of the walls, it wouldn't have been wise, so we got induction - I've gotta say, it's hard to beat!

We have a gas stove. I absolutely hate cooking on electric stove top. I had them for years but my new house came with gas and, law willing, I will never go back.

I would rather cook on gas, but too cheap to do the conversion. We are content with our electric stove. Our fireplaces were built for gas so they don't have chimneys. The brick gets warm and it keeps heating the room for a good while. Ventless logs with a thermostat and CO detector. I guess we could roast weinies and marshmallows over it if we didn't have the gas cooktop.

All my stoves have been electric. Our new place in Florida is gas. I've cooked on gas before and like it much better than electric.
Cooked on induction once at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Loved it!

Loved it! That proposal to eliminate gas ranges really blew up in their face. The backpedaling on that was pretty funny, those that proposed it tried to nuance their position, that only made them look more foolish. They really jumped the shark, but like all things, they will not give up, they will come back for another bite of the apple when they think that proper mental conditioning of the population has taken place. PMC= people being properly dumbed down.
