More mystery blend in the new cob. Trying to burn up the random accumulation of tobacco. Whatever I put together to make this blend is very high in vitamin N. A little buzzed from it.

I do not smoke this pipe often, it came from the estate of a man that was born in 1896, no nomenclature the family told me that it was handed down from his father. Cherrywood stem, not sure what the bowl was made of. It smokes quite well. SG FVF 2009. This is how it breaks down.

Since that picture was taken, I sent it off to have the rim repaired because the previous owner had burned the rim so badly that it was uneven. It looks better now; I should take a new picture! All of my Dunhills are second-hand; can't bring myself to buy a new one.

That Dunhill shape is somewhere between a brandy and a billiard, so I agree with your seeing it as an egg. I've had the burnt rim repaired since this picture was taken.

Yeah, without hi-res, I did not see any bubbles on the rim (which would mean "Danger Will Robinson!"). I have been amazed at some pipes I have received with what appears to be heavy char...with spittle, elbow grease and determination, they cleaned up well!

Thanks! It was love at first sight when I found this one. I’m surprised it didn’t get a Giubileo stamp. Ditto as it’s 360 of that grain. Full pics here: imgur.com/a/Cs7PmlhI have three guesses as to why it isn’t a Giubileo d'Oro: 1 - It’s too flamey and not tight straight grain. Kinda like how Dunhill used to be picky about DR ratings. 2 - There is a very small fill somewhere which I haven’t found yet. I have another Punto Oro Smooth Natural with super tight straight grain. It should obviously be a GdO, but it has two very small fills. So, it was made a PO but given a golden band to indicate it’s a superior example of its grade. I once showed this pipe to Savinelli's export manager and he confirmed what the golden band means. 3 - Someone screwed up during grade selection and I saved money on an under graded pipe. 😎 BTW- “Classic" in the description means standard push tenon and no filter adapter needed. Here is a pic of my Punto Oro Smooth Natural 127 referenced above:
