2019 Watch City Rhythm & Blues in a Mark Twain. One last little pinch of this sample left to mix with something else related. After this will be some John Patton's Storm Front in the same cob.

Earlier a bowl of BLWB in my Peterson Disappointment Racing Green #69... Now a bowl of Midnight English in a Kaywoodie Drinkless Bent Dublin... A large black coffee on the side... What's wrong with the Peterson?

After several bowls of this sample of John Patton's Storm Front sent to me by haebar , I'd easily accept that this is Carter Hall and John accidentally mixed it up with his Storm Front. I can detect absolutely no cigar leaf anywhere in this, and although I have not personally smoked Carter Hall in a couple years, I have in total smoked a few tubs of Carter Hall. This is Carter Hall dead over. The only slightly discernible hint of difference I can really tell is a hint of vinegar-treated white or air cured burley which is reminiscent of stock made by Cornell & Diehl, but I'd bet $100 on the spot there is no cigar leaf at all in this blend. I'm much more willing to believe he obtained at least one of the burleys from C&D and honestly, mixed it right with Carter Hall itself. I've went afterwards, to read several reviews, and while several do in fact mention it's a lot like Carter Hall, several folks mention a darker smokier flavor from the cigar leaf. For me, this would be like saying I taste cigar leaf in Carter Hall itself. It's just not here. There's white and dark burleys and treated with vinegar, cocoa/molasses and that's it. I'm puzzled.
Will smoke several more bowls tomorrow morning in different cobs.

Good Saturday Morning! It's a milder 51° here with a cloudy sky so the workshop heater is on low and I have one of the doors open a bit. There's more rain and high winds in the forecast, so I'll have to "rig for heavy weather" as we used to say in the Navy. The first pipe of the day is the rehydrated Limerick VA Flake in the Don Carlos Two Note and there's a travel mugga fresh coffee on the tobacco table.
