Do you feel better after all the political and social comments you make? Life is rough without a sense of common courtesy. This forum has a no-politics rule. I'd just like everyone to have the common courtesy to adhere to it. It's not difficult. Lots of folks here manage to post every single day without getting into political/social commentary or dropping words and phrases everyone knows are cultural hot-buttons. And then there's some who can rarely manage it. I don't know why. Truly, I don't. That's partly why it bothers me: I can't figure out what the difficulty is. And when you're trying to avoid getting peppered with politics and culture wars 24/7, and you're in a forum where that stuff is against the rules, yes, it gets bothersome that there's still a daily stream of small and large references to it, reminders about it, and just plain participation in it. For people who sometimes express concern about the forum membership count and about the dwindling number of pipe smokers in general, it shows an odd lack of self-awareness. After all, the whole point of the no-politics rule is to make sure this place is inviting to pipe smokers of all stripes. If anyone thinks this place isn't inhospitable to all pipe smokers except those within a fairly narrow spectrum of political/social values and viewpoints, they're mistaken. I rarely say anything about it because on the whole I find you all to be a pretty companionable lot, and, to be honest, because I really don't think there's much point to saying anything. This place is what it is at this point. It has some core members -- and you're one of them, Ron -- who, if very many of them left because they couldn't go on doing what they've gotten used to doing, the Patch probably wouldn't survive. That's just the reality of it. On rare occasions, though, like this one, it flusters me so much I harrumph about it. This is far and away the most I've ever said on the subject, and the most I'll ever say. I didn't say anything political. There have been whole movies that make fun of Belgians. It's a joke. Get over yourself. Show me a little courtesy. The first statement is just false, as people can easily see. The second statement is a moderately subtle attempt to minimize your earlier comments. The third statement has no bearing on whether or not those comments were political. The rest reduces to "I know you are but what am I?", which is just the same little brother syndrome that routinely comes out of you in disagreements, Ron. Most men of your years have more dignity. Maybe I should be grateful for the proof of my next-to-last paragraph, but really I just wish everyone would better observe the rules. It's not difficult.

Sutliff Uno in a St. Regis (Comoy's) pot. About one more bowl and maybe an extra pinch left in this tin. Glad I've got more in the cellar as this is a very tasty and unique mild English blend with both genuine St. James Perique and Katerini Perique from Mark Ryan. Latakia kind of comes third, and then it's supported by Virginias and some dark fired Kentucky. Ain't nothin' else tastes like this out there and it's gotten better with age and being in an open tin. I find these round tins can withstand about one year open and left in the tin so long as you close it up tightly. Still a tad moist one year later. I will soon open up the second blend from the Birds of a Feather series.

Five year old Comoy’s Cask No. 7 (aka PS LBF) in my BC calabash. Shots fired! I should be fair and admit that I believe if you took ten pipe smokers and did a blind taste test between no. 7 and LBF aged the same amount of time, half of them would correctly guess which is which based on simple odds and probability

2020 Yoshimi's Out Shine at work. Is that what I think it is? A sandblasted briar shank in a stained General cob? Knowing you, Duane, I could also expect this to be one of those superb Alexey Kharlamov realistic "briar cobs". Best cob of the year award.

Sandblasted briar shank, briar plug, with a tri-color juma stemmed cob and matching tamper. I'd love to get a briar cob from Kharlamov, but he's yet to reply to my email about one.

Good Saturday Morning! It's 50°, cloudy, and everything is wet from overnight rain with more showers expected as a cold front sweeps into the region. Today is our wedding anniversary so I'll head on over to the supermarket for some things and also get ice cream for dessert. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Peterson Rosslare 106 and there's a fresh mugga coffee on the tobacco table. Have a good one, everybody!

A happy anniversary to coalsmoke{Russ}, and good morning to all...I've just loaded the Kristi freehand and a Nording signature with a mix of Middelton's Cherry Blend and my own Cherry Bowl. I've finished a coffee from the one-hitter, unloaded the dishwasher, and have a load of towels in the dryer. The house is quiet as a mouse. Even the dogs are asleep. The older I get, the less I like being alone, and the wife wont be back till next Saturday. One person can live in a house, but around here, it takes two to make a home.

My brother collects stray half-breed dogs, takes care of them and keeps them in his house in the village as "guards". This is a boy called "Apsοu", his name comes from the sound we make when we sneeze "Aah..Psu" because when he found him abandoned he was injured in one eye and sick. At first he was very fierce and did not let us approach the house, but after the ''necessary recommendations'' we became friends. I am smoking Mac Baren Mixture Scottish Blend.
