After my day at the VA, came home to a bowl of Balkan Sasieni. Having not touched my pipe for a year (no room in my luggage during my travels), I’ve noticed my taste buds have changed drastically. Blends I loved in the past are now meh, and vice versa. Yes, I thoroughly cleaned all my pipes beforehand. Anyone else have this issue before? I notice it every time I go for a long period without smoking. I gave up the pipe for Lent and the nicotine almost knocked me out from my first pipe and the flavor was way different than I remembered.

This had been the most physically demanding week at work that I've had in a long time; got home at 1:30 this morning after working outside all night. Fortunately, I have a short day working at home tomorrow. Smoking some Five Brothers in a Bari Rhodesian.

Good Morning! It's 38° here with a clear, starry sky and moonlight. Nothing on the chore list so far and I'll be able to get some reading done. Getting the smoking day started with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Don Carlos Two Note and there's a fresh mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket.

I'm trying out some OTC blends in hopes that maybe I have cheap tastes and will be just as happy smoking codger blends as I would be with the more premium blends. I picked up packs of H&H, SWR,and CH and will be smoking them in the same MM cob for consistency. Started out today with H&H and it has a heavy spiced dried fruit smell like a cross between a fruitcake and fig newton. The flavor is pretty consistent with the pouch and gets more subdued/tolerable on the back half. Very thick smoke that's easy to light and keep lit. Oh well, fairly cheap experiment and maybe I'll find SWR and CH more agreeable. Carter Hall is a great smoke. Half and Half tastes like burning plastic to me. Granger is one that I enjoy occasionally, especially when I’m feeling a little burnt out on what I’ve been smoking. The old codger/OTC blends (some of them) have their own special charm. Half & Half always tasted like burning plastic, and play-doh to me as well.
I'm smoking Sir Walter Raleigh in a Mark Twain cob. Because I can't taste anything anyway. (Sir Walter Raleigh is like a nicotine free, bland, licorice-tasting haispray flavor to me. ) I make it tolerable generally by mixing in good C&D burleys with it when I do smoke it.

At the moment, Derby Club Aromatic has edged B.H.T out of first place in my line up. I still keep it close by, also Storm Front , and Cater Hall. This morning's post, by Zach, reminds me that I need to pick up some Granger, but it may be a while, as I have so many open jars on hand.

No, nothing serious, I just volunteered to help the biologists collect spiders and flying insects and it has to be done at night. Earlier in the week I had been doing some other field work on my environmental projects. So after last night, I am pretty fatigued. But I had a short day today and am already off for the weekend! Thanks for asking.

Good Afternoon! It's a mild 64° here with a sunny sky and some white clouds drifting along. One of my Springtime rituals is to put the screen in the front storm door and that's done. Tomorrow I'll turn the water on for the deck hose since freezing temperatures are gone. Out on the deck and under the umbrella getting ready to read my book. Currently smoking a bowl of Peterson Flake in the Don Carlos with low volume streaming smooth jazz playing on the tablet. Enjoy the day, everybody!

Must be something about the codger classic blends today Had some Sutliff Duke Albert in the Lumberman. If it's anything like real Prince Albert, I found it vastly more enjoyable than H&H. Recently learned my wife's Grandpa liked Carter Hall. Makes me wish stores near me still sold those old blends.

It’s 67 and beautiful here. My cat seems to really be enjoying the weather now that it’s nice enough to leave the door open. I’m smoking SG Brown Sugar Flake in my BC calabash. Looking at the picture just made me add painting the door trim to my unfortunately long list of things to do to finish restoring my house.

This had been the most physically demanding week at work that I've had in a long time; got home at 1:30 this morning after working outside all night. Fortunately, I have a short day working at home tomorrow. Smoking some Five Brothers in a Bari Rhodesian. My worst days were server and data center changeovers. I developed a lot of techniques to lessen the amount of work, but working 36 hours straight wasn't unusual. I have had the most physically demanding days since I retired.

Looks like the waste gate is stuck open. 😁

Blue skies all day long. Spent my time working outside, mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, doing some trimming and feeding the roses.had several bowls of Friar's Bayou and Haunted Bookshop while working. Done for the day, and relaxing on the deck with a cigar and a beer.

Good Evening! It's a comfortable 67° with a mix of sun and clouds. Out here on the deck again after a nap, getting my laundry put away, and calling one of my brothers. Currently smoking more Peterson Flake in the Don Carlos and there's a bottle of ice water on the deck table. Have a good night, everyone!
