Good Morning! It's a chilly 44° here with a cloudy sky and maybe a passing shower sometime later on. My darling wife will head out to BJ'S in the afternoon to get a load of groceries, so I'll be playing pack mule to get the car unloaded. Starting off the smoking day with a bowl of three year old Wessex Brown VA Flake that I stole from the cellar in the Peterson Rosslare 106. Delicious! And, of course, there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket.

2010 McClelland Blackwoods Flake in an IMP Meer with coffee to drink while the local roosters call to the sun. One of my fondest memories of Blackwoods Flake...I was sitting on a bench, outside a major hospital, while my wife underwent surgery. I took out my pipe and a baggie of B.F., and in no time I was enjoying a blissful smoke. One lady did comment about the good old days, when pipe smoking was common, but mostly I got dirty looks from passers by... I finished up my smoke, put away the pipe, and when I rose from the bench I saw a giant sing behind me...SMOKE FREE CAMPUS! I'm starting with Derby Club Aromatic, in what I've been told is a Lorenzo second, with coffee from the one-hitter. Heading for a doctor's appointment around noon.

On my way into the hospital this morning, I was chuckling at the sign. TOBACCO FREE CAMPUS! Right next to that is another that says "We accept infant newborns up to 72 hours". So, you can abandon your baby but not smoke a pipe. Huh?! 🤔

I took the Gefapip sitter along for the ride to the Doctor, the tobacco was Derby Club Aromatic. I was overjoyed, as was my doctor, to learn that I've lost 16 pounds, and lowered my A1C by 2 full points!

All kidding aside, I’ve never tried it. Would appreciate your thoughts on it please. I suck at reviews… I can read reviews on tobaccoreviews and in retrospect, say “yeah he nailed it”, but in the moment, I just get lost. Beacon is a fine smoke, and in my opinion is a “sleeper” in the McClelland’s lineup. You really don’t hear it mentioned much online, but in my books it ranks up there as a top notch vaper. The last time I cracked a tin at a pipe club meeting, it was gone muy pronto. Yes, always easier to go to something like tobaccoreviews for a full perspective. Once in a while, also good to get a review from someone I know.

Likewise I was out shopping with my wife and daughters, while they went into the stores I leaned up against a pole and smoked my pipe...I noticed some bitchy looking women sitting at an outside table 50 feet amay look my way, and Nigel skinnyjeans from the Starbucks came out and told me I had to vacate the area. He pointed to the no smoking sign above me that I had not noticed, I put the pipe away I just wish I had a bag of Red Man to chew I could have put on a great show for the old biddies.

After my day at the VA, came home to a bowl of Balkan Sasieni. Having not touched my pipe for a year (no room in my luggage during my travels), I’ve noticed my taste buds have changed drastically. Blends I loved in the past are now meh, and vice versa. Yes, I thoroughly cleaned all my pipes beforehand. Anyone else have this issue before?

My tastes haven't changed that drastically, yet, but I'm sure they will. Well, it's possible they have, actually, and I just don't know it because the main blends I remember from my first piping life are [mostly] unobtainium now.

As usual, I've been traveling most weeks. This week, however, I'm working from home. Besides catching up on all of the Honey-do's for Blondie I've been in endless zoom meetings and stuck up in my office / mancave.
What's a feller to do?
Why, smoke them there pipes of course. ;-)
Started out today, as with most days at home, with a cup of coffee (or three) and a bowl of EMP.
Then I work my way through bowls of Margate, Pembroke, Liz, RDF and Orlik golden slices.
As I sit here typin I'm enjoyin another bowl of Orlik. ( I can not confirm whether or not I'm now sippin some Buffalo Trace)
cheers
