MacBaren's Burley Flake in a Peterson 307. The flake was a gift from a member of the Patch. Thank you again, Sir.

Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Wednesday cob. It's a cool, cloudy 61 degrees here. The light breeze makes it feel downright chilly. Processing more tomatoes this afternoon.

Good Afternoon! It's 64° with a partly sunny sky and we may get a shower soon here in the neighborhood. In the workshop again while finishing up my time with the last of a short bowl of Straight Grain Flake in the Sav smooth billiard and there's a swallow of coffee left in the mug. Lunch is calling.

I've been smoking an 8 pound pork shoulder for 14 hours, going to let it rest for 30 minutes or so and then it'll be ready to be pulled. Unfortunately no tobacco accompaniment. I'm still getting over an upper respiratory infection that's been hanging around.

A few days ago we were given about a quarter of a home smoked Salmon that a friend caught the day before in Lake Michigan. That's some nice smokey flavor in my mouth. So, yeah, I’ll count a 8lb pork shoulder.

Earlier had some 2020 G.L. Pease Union Square in an MMC Elite Cadel reverse calabah cob. Just now discovered my newly opened tin of C&D Steamworks is completely full of mold A real bummer because this is a stunning VaPer flake with Black Sea Sokhum that’s completely different.

Indeed...that is a bummer. I would contact the and let them know, because: 1. They need to know when this happens so that it can inform them going forward....and.... 2. They very might have some tins held back to replace the compromised tin, that you possess. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."

I asked exactly that, if they possibly had any held back replacement tins for it, likely though it will end up having to be something else. I only have two other tins of the Steamworks, but the next time I open one I’m going to have to dry it down a bit more. I happened to pop the tin open to smell it and maybe go for some when I made a shocked face and thought “oh no, is that a faint tint of fungal bloom right on the edge there…” I look closer but don’t actually see it yet just a sign, until i pull a few flakes up. It was full on Aspergillus bloom down between all the flake and full mold across the bottom of the tin and all the flakes.

Sucks to hear that about steamworks. I'm sure they will make it right. Hope they don't have to recall the whole lot like they had to do for one of the crf releases.

I had bought about 10 tins affected by that recall, I have yet to have one with mold. I refused the option of returning mine. Pretty lucky.

"Cat skidding logs, and grappies"
Be careful in what company you speak in them terms.

Good Morning! It's just on the edge of chilly here at 47° with a clear sky. Nothing much on the list again for this afternoon. Getting the smoking day started with a bowl of Scottish Flake in the smooth bent Amorelli Three Star and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee on the workshop tobacco table. Have a good one, everybody!
