My last uncle passed away yesterday. My mother’s younger brother. My dad just got sent home from the cardiologist today with a defibrillator and a prescription for Eliquis. Mom’s older sister (88) was hospitalized a week ago with COVID and we think is on the mend. Dad won’t accept nursing help or assistance from his kids and Mom is the only one he will let help him with his health and daily needs right now. My uncle’s funeral is next Tues and it looks like only a couple of my brothers can travel for it. I am going to provide support for the folks on this end and we can attend virtually, thank the Lord. I am not traveling until my heart issues are sorted out. I continue to have twinges and the weird heartbeat at times. Mom found out about my condition, so there is yet another thing to stress her out. Good grief, how much stress can the woman handle? Topping it it off today at work, we all found out a co-worker and friend has stage 4 spinal cancer. Prayers for my folks, uncles family and my friend would be much appreciated. I believe in it.

Thanks guys. I feel a little bit bad for not flying out with my brothers to support my aunt and her family, but I don’t like the idea of leaving Mom to deal with my dad’s health issues alone. I would hate to be across country if something happened, God forbid. I am also a little hesitant to go far from home, until the cardiologist figures out what is going on with my heart. I worry a lot about the strain all of this putting on my mother. ☹️

By the way, my uncle is responsible for me wearing a beard for the past 30 years. He was a college history professor and always had a distinguished looking goatee and mustache. I always like the look and emulated it when I could grow a decent beard. I couldn’t manage that until about 30 yrs old.🧐. I haven’t been clean shaven since. Godspeed, Uncle Dean.🙏🏼

I had to miss my older brother's funeral in July and stay home with my wife while she began to go through the symptoms of a lung disorder. Our duty is to those still in our care and you did the right thing.

He would also probably advise us sons to look after our folks ahead of attending any funeral. He was a practical and caring man.

So today, another friend at work told us his oldest brother passed and he is flying out in the morning for the funeral. I just got done talking to my closest friend and his uncle is not expected to make it through this weekend. I am at a loss for words….

I lost 3 uncles and an aunt in pretty short order in the COVID years (none of them to COVID). It gets your attention. Death encroaches on life more the further you get into it.

My life problems are self-inflicted and nonmedical, the situation your family faces is not. I hope that you and your family get a good outcome. Prayers for a positive outcome for all.

Don, I have been offline for the most part as I travelled. I am sorry to hear that there are so many serious health issues within your orbit and you personally. We will certainly pray for all concerned.
The depth and breadth of people facing such serious issues should motivate the rest of us to count our blessings
