Hey folks,
sorry I just dropped outa this thread; the wife did indeed come home, and is doing well, other than some soreness...she did try to smoke, but I raised so much hell she put it out and I haven't seen anymore issues...the new front porch is completed, except for two ceiling fans, and The contractor made a point to hang Sharon's new swing before he left on Monday, so she was extra happy upon her return.
Still no lab report on the tissue they removed, but as with all things, we hope for the best and prepare for the worst. You all have been a great support for me, and I hope you know I place a great value on this brotherhood.

On my last trip to the hospital's I.C. unit, there came walking down the hall, a tiny little guy all dressed up for trick or treat... The Grimm Reaper, in a unit full of sick old people. At the time I remember thinking his parents could use a lesson on what is in good taste, and what is not, and that's true...but the thought of it just gave me a chuckle, and I had to share it.

At the time I remember thinking his parents could use a lesson on what is in good taste, and what is not, and that's true...but the thought of it just gave me a chuckle, and I had to share it. Heh. That's a "WTF?" moment if ever I heard one. |

The Doctor called this afternoon. The lab report came back on the tissue removed from my wife's chest...cancer in the small mass from her lung, but the nodes and surrounding tissue were clear.
I'm not at all clear about what is to come, just that on our next visit, we... me, Sharon, and two or more doctors will begin a plan that could last as long as five years.
We knew this might come, but it's still hard to process.

Thank you Charlie, thank you all...It's a new page, and a new test. Every day I learn a bit more about the power of the human sprit...in spite of he pain the wife helped make sixteen fruitcakes this weekend, and today with a little help from me, she did laundry, dishes , made beds, and wrapped all the fruitcakes in cheesecloth, then put them down to soak in cream white wine...all the while I was telling her to slack-up...but I gotta tell ya, no smoking...might be to little, too late...but I'm still proud of her. |

The collective good will of friends and loved-ones, including all of you on this forum paid off today. My wife and her sister went for the follow-up visit with her doctor and his staff.
At the hospital, she had a chest X-ray , and then the meeting with the doctor...she's cancer free folks; the cancer was the most common form, and it was confined two the small mass that they removed...no treatments going forward, just a few check-ups each year for the next five years.
I had been watching from the back yard, for their return, as I got up leaves with the blower...when I saw the car coming down our street I dropped everything and headed to the house. The news just about had me in tears , and after her sister left I cleaned up and took her for some huge steaks at Texas Road House...the tools are still where they fell, in the yard!
Seems like Brad and I are two of the most blessed old codgers around...we still have our gals!
Just a special side note...there have been no cigarettes in this house for at least twelve days.
