Carter Hall for the forth bowl in the Silver Axe, Diet Pepsi on the side. Plan to have some of that in the Cayuga freehand, tonight. CH, I mean. Not Diet Pepsi. Ew.

Some more 2020 flue cured BK grade red Virginia whole leaf tasting in an RDP strawberry briar sandblasted bulldog, and now some 2020 G. L. Pease Union Square in an MMC Elite Cadel reverse calabash cob. What's "BK grade"? Ron made a heck of a bulldog. Mine's morta. He only made a couple of those. I asked him about making one for me, but he refused to work with morta again.

I never knew he made only a few of them. He did a darn good job with this one, but maybe it took a disproportionate effort/expense.

He did a darn good job with this one, but maybe it took a disproportionate effort/expense. Oh yeah, I bet it's perfect. He is a perfectionist. He said it was just too hard to make a perfect pipe out of morta. Don Warren makes great but simple morta pipes. Denovik Davorin makes great fancy morta pipes that are very expensive.

Now smoking Carter Hall in the Cayuga freehand from Paul's Pipe Shop. I don't have a pic, yet. Okay, this one isn't as light in the mouth as it is in the hand. I think the weight is uncommonly well balanced, making it feel lighter in the hand than it actually is. So, it's not as light for its size as I initially thought. It's still quite manageable, though, and smokes very well. From what I can tell from a single smoke, I'm quite happy with the purchase.

Good Morning! It's a cold 28° here with a mostly clear sky. This afternoon I have some more laundry to do and then figure out the rest of the day as I go along. I opened up my tobacco delivery box, stacked the tins on the workshop's tobacco table, and filled one day jar. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of fresh Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake in the Don Carlos smooth bent Two Note and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a good one everybody!

And Good Morning Again! It's still 28° here with a mostly clear sky. Just lit up a bowl of Straight Grain Flake in the Don Carlos. I think that I'll try one of the new sanding cones to ream out this pipe's Dublin bowl later on today and see how that works. Time to check the headline news while sipping my coffee.

Carter Hall for the forth bowl in the Silver Axe, Diet Pepsi on the side. How's the break-in going? I'm no real sage when it comes to break-ins; many of my best smokers are estates, where somebody other than me took care to do it right. But this pipe performed like an old pro from the start. I smoke slow anyway, and I've only smoked it once a day, never letting it overheat, but as for the pipe itself, I couldn't be happier{ thank you very much}and it's remained nearby from the moment it was unwrapped. I think you may have missed your calling!

Finishing up my time here in the workshop with a bowl of Bayou Morning Flake in the Don Carlos before heading back to the house. There's enough in the jar for about three more smokes.

Good morning! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Tuesday cob and coffee. Sourdough starter is fed. I'll be starting another loaf of rye and using some of the starter discard to make a batch of crackers. I'll be helping my wife with some cookies, too.

Boswell's English Biscuit in a Comoy's Pebble Grain prince: I have one of those. It's a great pipe. I got it from the bunch that fell off the back of the truck for 23 bucks.

In honor of the season, I had a bowl of C&D Jolly Old St. Nicholas in a Cellini Original freehand I picked up in Cellini's long-gone shop in downtown Chicago in the seventies. I don't normally go for aromatics, but I enjoy JOSN from time to time.
