Good Morning Again! It's 20° here right now and the sky is still clear. Finishing up this bowl of HH Pure VA Flake and next will be either Limerick Flake or the Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake. Time to check the headline news.

Finishing up my time here in the workshop with a bowl of Scottish Flake in the Don Carlos and sipping the rest of my coffee. Think I'll check some more news sites before heading back to the house.

Partegas in my Berkeley Bent... A large sweet tea alongside... I feel like I may have asked you this before, but I don't remember the answer: what's Partegas? I'm familiar with Part agas cigars, but not with a Partegas pipe tobacco. Partagas, among other cigar companies, partnered with or at least allowed Lane to make a series of pipe tobacco tins. They were mostly all Virginia, burley, cavendish aromatics and didn’t last more than a year or two before Lane shut down in Georgia.

Can you even make a ten year old understand the differance between pipe smoking as a hobby, and smoking as a habit?? No she doesn’t understand. She was just reciting everything she learned. I’m pretty short though at 5’6”, so she remarked that, “tobacco stunts your growth which is probably why you’re short”. Hahaha! Just wait until she gets into Harvard! 😁

2004 McC Rose of Latakia in my Calabresi VSQ Brandy. Trivia note since we’ve recently had some Cristiano discussion… The Calabresi VSQ series and the Cristiano VSQ series are the exact same pipes. The only difference is the stamping. This was the high end Calabresi line and the Cristiano mid-range line.

There were probably about a hundred of this shape in a box in the basement pipe storeroom that I picked through when I bought this one.

When we got a tour of the basement, we were told by Dan's son that there were about 5000 finished pipes in the boxes that were stacked in that room.

I picture this basement as something like Roman catacombs or the secret Vatican library. Something like that, yeah. Oh, yeah… There are five distinct areas in Paul's basement: pipe storage room, bulk tobacco storage room, tin tobacco storage room, pipe making area, and blending area. I happen to have a few pics of the pipe storage room:

Yeah, that looks like storage maintained by males, alright. What is the brass object in the last pic? Spittoon? Flugelhorn?

Good Morning! It's a frosty 27° here with a clear sky. This afternoon I have to bring my wife to her CT scan appointment and after that I'll come home and take a nap. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of Scottish Flake in the Savinelli Venera 128 smooth billiard and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a good one everybody!
