I remember when I went to make a clone of olive gardens zuppa toscana about a decade or so afo we (my dad and I like to cook) had a hard time finding the kale because at the time it was primary used as a garnish either for a salad bar or the produce section. Guy at the store w a like "kale no one eats that we use it line the displays of the vegetables" I use turnip greens when I make Zupa Toscana Keeps kale out of the house.

Mrs Rios Thai Kitchen closed for family emergency. So, another 17 miles to Fort Garland, CO and the All Gone Cafe. Had darn good sour cream green chile enchiladas with rice and beans. Desert was their store made Boston Cream Cake for me, my neighbor had their Coconut Cream Pie. Their baked goods are out of sight!

I'd hate for you to lose that establishment. This other one sounds pretty good, too, though. I'm a sucker for baked goods.

Lou’s diner in Vegas… excellent.servers and food excellent.
Hofbrau house in Vegas… excellent!
Dog Howse at the Hilton@ resorts world… comped $60… this place sucked! Every meal comes with tater tots cooked in grease from 1965.
Laughlin Nevada at the dive Best Western Hotel the Aquarius… excellent dinner and breakfast at the cafe, at very good prices, food and servers, excellent.

Lunch was salami slices, Vermont White Cheddar Cheese, French bread. A pot of split pea and fava bean soup with vegies and Andouille sausage on the stove finishing. Partly pureed. With Pecorino Romano cheese added with Italian seasoning. No pasta this time.

I should say so. Charlie lives well and deserves it. Nice to have a thoughtful employer who treats his people well. Never had that experience myself. Glad someone else does as it maintains my faith in humans.

Seafood gumbo, wife went dentist yesterday and her gums are sore, I told her what can you eat, she replied gumbo, so I said gumbo it is. She had frozen some from a couple days ago. I'm not hard to please!

I should say so. Charlie lives well and deserves it. Nice to have a thoughtful employer who treats his people well. Never had that experience myself. Glad someone else does as it maintains my faith in humans. Romy is a really good guy, a boss that has your back… I have never needed it, but I know how he is wired. We were a satellite operation for several years, but when the employees based in PHX reached 12, it triggered having an on-site manager and an office staff of 3, he got 3 first round draft pics. Some of the guys complIn that he is often not in the office, he does a lot of work at home when he isn’t travelling to ElPaso, SLC, Tulsa, Montana… that he oversees. I had to caution the guys about their criticism… a smart manager hires the right people and turns them loose to do their jobs. A bad manager, micromanages, never leaves the office, makes everyone’s life a living hell, and has to manage the mutineers he created. This is a good job to sunset my career… he offered me an office job, just ain’t my bag.

Went out for hibachi. I had chicken and shrimp and my wife had chicken and scallops. A bottle of chilled premium sake to accompany. Appetizer and desert was a bowl of C&D Crooked Lane during the drive to and from.
