Had gas station egg rolls, chicken strips, and potato logs, plus junky road snacks on the way up. In Branson now, and thinking about pizza.

Sunday, a trip to San Luis, CO and Mrs Rios Thai Kitchen. Tom Kha soup with vegetables and Pad Kee Mao with tofu. Excellent with the Thai Basil. Just the right heat at #3 of 5 range. Their homemade lime soda to drink. Feel good.

Should've had pizza. Went to the restaurant on the hotel parking lot and had lousy fish and chips. I think we'll stick with the cheap chains for the rest of our meals.

Holding steady with the cure 81 omelet from this morning. A cookie or two along with espresso. Ron you should go for the world famous chicken and dumplings.

If you are in Branson, talk to the concierge and locals. Google reviews are often good, but often a restaurant will seem to have a high rating, but after reading five or six posts, you can tell if it is a stinker. I hate paying for a bad meal even when I am on company expense… bad meals are unacceptable.

Did a crock pot roast from an Americas test kitchen cookbook, and pulled the roast and used a handheld blender to puree carrots/ onions/ tomatoes… good stuff.

I spied a bag full of homemade cinnamon rolls on the kitchen counter while making my morning espresso. Thinking it will be best to wait a bit as it is too early in the morning just yet.

I didn't even know that Branson had seasons. I thought it was like Vegas for adults, not a ski resort. Hotel had a great free breakfast with a couple of cooks.

I try to support independent restaurants when travelling. Too many of us fear the experience and stick with the corporate chains. This reduces entrepreneurs from venturing forth. Yes, it is hit or miss. I enjoyed the search for that little gem of a place out there.

Kind of hard to tell around here where the biggest sign wins. We might be eating at IHOP and Taco Bell to save money. Went to a local coffee shop this morning. 18 bucks for 2 coffees, and we purposely avoided the Starbucks across the street.

I found the same… found some gems in Vegas that are mom or pops, not sure if the Peppermill is considered a chain, but the food there is awesome. Lou’s diner at Decatur and Alta has been there since the 60’s, I cannot help but stop there… the food is great, and service is superb. A few restaurants in Kingman, Tombstone, Sierra Vista, Douglas, Tucson, and Monument valley, Cortez, Flagstaff, have all earned my respect… none are chain restaurants. A few in Gallup NM, and Holbrook, Winslow also.

We had a hard time getting in because of the line at the Trump store across the street. 😉

Breakfast this morning was a small sirloin steak, two eggs, fried mash taters, and a bread slice in the skillet. Followed by my heart pills, my prostate pills and my Chemotherapy pills. They are a meal in themselves! All I can think of is Grace Slick singing the Alice song.

Dentistry today, so I’m going the soft route for dinner. A plate of spicy deviled eggs, accompanied by some toddies. Strictly medicinal I assure you.
