Ate dinner last night at the Cameron Trading post, prickly pear wings and Navajo taco. Ribeye steak and eggs there for breakfast this morning...leftovers back at home. Do they still have the homemade fudge there in the gift shop? I never walked over to that side of the store. Any type in particular that is especially good?

Two kolaches and a Big Red around lunch time so no dinner planned. I don't believe I have ever seen Steven Raichlen BBQ anything on TV that he didn't burn bit maybe I missed a PBS episode.

That is weird because the recipes and techniques explained in the book are very clear about the importance of not under/ over cooking.

My black friends insist I have a little black in my ancestry. I can't argue with them because that's the food I love best. Last harvest festival I was at, me and a black woman ended up splitting the last of the burnt ends at the barbeque truck. Fried chicken for lunch today. But the President says I ain't black, so I don't know. 🤣

A thin London Broil steak from the Green Meat section of a local market. Pan grilled about two minutes per side. A nice sauce of mushrooms in butter with added sherry (reduced) and cream. Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
I remember when LBs were great slabs of beef for the charcoal grill. I have not seen one like that in 30 years. Everything now is thin and very expensive.

Charlie you have to see his television show and then get back to me. I wasn’t questioning your opinion… maybe he needs to cut back on adult beverages when filming!😉 Quite often my long smoke projects, pork butts/ Brisket are as black as Stalin’s heart. But the meat is not burnt and generally very juicy.

Brio Italian Grill @ SanTan. Calamari Lasagna Shrimp and eggplant in a pepper cream sauce
Decided to start using some of the gift cards the kids have given us. I hate eating out when at home, I have to force myself out because the wife does not feel the same way.😉

I tried looking up a Raichlen pork chop recipe that is in my book from him called monster pork chops that look awesome on the book (this one is not that recipe), but I watched the 5 minute video and cracked up. This critic is very animated. I agree with him on many points… not a Raichlen overcook, but an undercook.
STRONG LANGUAGE ALERT!

I have been using the term "used meat" lately. You need luck with the timing to get the best deals. The last 2 tomahawk steaks we had were from Walmart, half off. 19 bucks for a 54 ounce steak. We would have aged it in the fridge for a week anyway. A wise man once said, "never pay retail", and I rarely do.

Prices today are beyond my means. So, the reduced price helps.

A single egg fried in a bread frame with a small sausage patty.
A thin turkey and Swiss Cheese sandwich for lunch. Lettuce on top instead of bread slice. The last of the Branston Pickle relish. Mighty good on sandwiches.
Thankful I can eat!
