Kind of a Charcutier Plate for supper. Foie de Canard Pate, Braunschweiger, sliced Pastrami Hungarian Style, Goat cheese, Cotswald Cheddar, baguette, salad of Garbanzo beans, cherry tomatoes, olives, red onion, diced zucchini, Feta Cheese in olive oil with lemon juice. In honor of all those Frenchies who did not survive the morrow! Actually, they were Foreign Legionnaires, so not French at least most of them. Sounds like an eclectic meal. I remember Woolworth’s lunch counter had the best Braunschweiger ever. It was a real treat to go with grandma downtown on the bus for lunch. Don’t know if you can get it in stores out there, but Koegel's Branschweiger is the best. Ditto for their Olive Loaf. Flint, Michigan's three gifts to the world: General Motors, Paul's Pipe Shop, and Koegel's Meats. Before anyone says it…. When the Flint water crisis hit, Koegel's was very quick to issue a press release highlighting that they are not hooked to the city water system.

We went to Costco the other day and were amazed at the high prices of olive oil! And there was no Mulfetta olive salad in stock.
It seems that there has been really bad drought conditins in the olive producing regions across the pond.
Fortunately we were not in need of olive oil, but I had a hankering for the Mulfetta, it turns a bologna sandwich into a tasty meal.

Plenty of Olive oil comes from Argentina and Brazil. Also, California but not in great amounts, yet. I prefer Moroccan above all. Hope they are OK.

Steak and eggs for breakfast with hash browns. London Broil is not the best cut for this but what I have on hand. I wanted to order Picanna (Sirloin Cap) from Wild Fork. Slice my own steaks. They wanted $100 in shipping for $90 worth of meat. No thank you!!

It's what they use in Northern Louisiana for sandwiches. Might see if there is a World Market around. We have a couple of specialty food markets in Jefferson and Marshall that sell a hundreds of kinds of olive oil and other high end foods. Haven't been in one yet. They are blaming the olive shortage on climate change. The middle of Spain is in a prolonged drought and heat wave. We only use olive oil for salad dressing and for dipping flat bread. We use bacon fat and ghee for a lot of cooking. We are using avocado oil for frying these days.

I have read the Avocado Oil is the healthiest of all, for what that is worth. I like peanut oil for a hot skillet.

Avocado oil is supposed to be healthier than peanut oil and the smoke point is over 500 degrees. It has no taste that I can tell, so olive oil has the advantage when flavor counts. I want to try the avocado oil with some Good Seasons Italian dressing mix. I don't think I'll like it.

Cinco De Mayo here, made red chile sauce with powders from ElPotrero Trading Post Chimayo New Mexico. The pork has among other things Hatch chiles… refried beans from scratch, shredded chicken breast, it turned out really good.
